I'm with ME109. I also scored a complete RS fairing, in excellent order. We know another ex RS rider that got one too.

All connecting points were good and strong. Brackets included, no screen or dash.

The whole lot was less than OZ$200 delivered to me from the Faterland.

The RT stuff seemed to move slowly.

I've not looked lately as the wallet was taking a pounding.

Mike,
A most excellent tale, and it's great to have such a touchstone to your dad. But you've left one pressing question un-answered. What was mom's reaction to losing her 'queen's' perch? .

A pleasure meeting you and if the need for a quasi mid-point stopover arises again, I'm more than happy to accommodate you. If I'm home

Very excellent result.

Reminder to self: Find a nice, unmolested R100RT or R80RT.

She actually says she feels safer close to the ground, but says that she misses being able to see over my head, in reality, she couldn't have seen over me on the other seat, I'm 5" taller than my dad was.

I went back and read your rebuild history and I think you have done a great job!! In case I missed it somewhere, I would keep an eye on the exh valve clearance every 3-3.5K. OUR 81 R100's had the first year for different seats and they were the wrong metallurgy for the unleaded gas.

Been there done that as they say! My 81 has more character and offers better weather protection from the "elephants" then my 03 RT.
ENJOY

Thanks,

I love riding this bike in the spring and fall, and after the first year, I've only put 3-5k per year on it due to having other bikes for hot weather, checking the valves twice a year I haven't had any issues so far!

A few other BMW guys and I are going riding on Saturday if you want to join. I'm not as much of an early riser as some BMW riders, but if you want to meet up mid-to-late morning and head out to Western MD, I'd be in. Shoot me an email - Michaelpotter86@gmail.com

Mike with his bike. Somewhere in western Maryland. Thanks for the ride!
Except for the color, almost identical RT's!
