Locating dowels

I am rebuilding the water pump on my 2005 ADV S and when I pulled the inner clutch cover off one of the cover locating dowels fell out and rolled somewhere that I cannot find it.......perhaps into another dimension. What happens if I only use 1 dowel to replace the cover? If I am careful with the bolts and starting the cover correctly, will there be any other problems with just using 1 of the 2 dowels? Thanks

I would try to get hold of a new:

49030090000 DOWEL 9,8 X 7 X 10

They do list the dimensions so might be possible to source locally.

Or try to find a piece of Alu / steel rod of the same dia and cut off an equal length piece. There, you have a solid dowell pin. Might reduce your topspeed due to the additional weight though

I believe the dowels are hollow so bolts pass through.

If not your recommendation is very clever.
Cheers.

Gefr, you are right. The dowell pins are hollow as the bolts pass through them.

Magnet

I would get a floor magnet and a pencil magnet a find the lost one, because a dowel behind a clutch won't be a fun thing---

FIND THAT PUPPY!!! otherwise you will always wonder

Id find that little f*cker. I lost one too. It turned up in between my flywheel and stator. It wasn't a cheap fix.

Found the dowel under some stuff where it had rolled. Thanks for the suggestions. Now I have bigger problems, broken inner clutch cover. Anyone have one for sale?
