everybody has closeout prices (around $100) on Dakar pants right now, does that mean that there is going to be a "new" Dakar coming out?

yes, pretty sure it does, but I haven't seen pics or info of the replacement models.
it's no reason not to buy the good (old) stuff - I picked up 2 pairs of pants, and don't plan on having to buy new bottoms for many, many years.
