First Annual NMTA/NMOHVA Sipapu Shindig 2013

NMTA/NMOHVA Sipapu Shindig 2013

We now have a link active to the NMOHVA website for event registration/payment:

http://nmohva.wildapricot.org/Default.aspx?pageId=1542797

Hey, NMTA'ers! We just added a special registration category for NMTA to participate in the Sipapu Shindig. Since you will already be registering for the NMTA trials event, we created a category that isn't "doubling up" on charges for insurance/fees/etc.

We are excited to be involved in this unique event and the opportunity it offers for everyone.

Discounted $30 event registration which will get them a T-shirt, decal, dinner/raffle on Saturday night, and the opportunity to ride/lead any dual sport rides that they want to participate in on Friday!

Update as of 4/12:
We have added an option on the registration page to pay for additional Saturday night meal tickets for family members & friends who are not riding: $13 per person for a BBQ burger/brats dinner!

NMTA/NMOHVA Sipapu Shindig

When : Friday May 31st-Sunday June 2nd, 2013

Where :

Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort
5224 New Mexico 518
Vadito, NM 87579
Phone (800) 587-2240
www.sipapunm.com/

The New Mexico Trials Association (NMTA), and the New Mexico Off-Highway Vehicle Alliance (NMOHVA) are proud to co-sponsor this observed trials event/dual-sport motorcycle rally in Sipapu, NM.

Here’s a taste of what you can expect during this 3-day event :

  • 2 great days of dual-sport motorcycle riding in the beautiful Carson National Forest near Taos, New Mexico-(Friday-Saturday)
Friday and Saturday will feature a variety of dual sport, single-track, and road riding options through the mountains of Northern New Mexico. All riding off of ski resort property is strictly "no fee", and at the event participant's discretion. Maps of suggested routes will be provided and we anticipate plenty of people who would be willing to let others follow them as they explore the beautiful and varied scenery around Sipapu, Taos, Angel Fire and surrounding areas.
All road riding requires a legal, plated bike. Trails system riding requires a valid NM OHV sticker or sticker from a reciprical state. The NMTA event is being held on private land (the ski resort) so no stickers are required.

  • 2 great days of observed trials motorcycle competition at the Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort—(Saturday-Sunday)
Saturday and Sunday will feature two rounds of NMTA-hosted observed trials. Both "halves" of the event are headquartered out of the beautiful Sipapu Ski and Summer Resort. Bring several bikes and do it all! Your first competition event with NMTA is free and they encourage all to participate. (must have an AMA license to participate in NMTA event)
Free admission to spectate at the NMTA observed trials competition, with easy access to great food and beverages at Sipapu Lodge.

  • A chance to make new friends, catch up with long-time friends, and support New Mexico trials & dual sport motorcycling.
Registration for this event includes a dinner Saturday night, an event T-shirt, sticker, and a chance at raffle prizes. (we’ll have some good swag for you!)
  • This is a fund-raising event. All funds above event costs will go directly to NMOHVA's Access Defense Fund. Lend your support to the ongoing battle that NMOHVA is fighting on our behalf to maintain/preserve our motorized access to public lands in New Mexico
Check out NMOHVA at www.nmohva.org, Sipapu at www.sipapunm.com,and the NMTA at www.newmexicotrials.com.

If you wish to participate in the NMTA trials event, or assist as a volunteer spotter, please contact NMTA at www.newmexicotrials.com

We now have a link active to the NMOHVA website for event registration/payment:

http://nmohva.wildapricot.org/Default.aspx?pageId=1542797

Registration is $55, which gets you full access to all of the events at Sipapu, a T-shirt, decal, BBQ dinner, and an entry into our raffle for a cool assortment of swag from our event vendors/sponsors.
Most importantly, all proceeds beyond our cost of organizing/promoting the event go directly to NMOHVA's Access Defense Fund!

You can pay on line via PayPal----let me know if you have any problems, it worked fine for me!

So much goodness to say about this event. I have a friend who lives in Dallas and has not missed his summer retreat in Sip for many years. Dual sport trials event on Saturday? Trials scoring/observing, free spectators, wonder if they will operate the lift? Cajun Boil. Moto and bicycle trials demonstrations? Swag? Rio Pueblo fly fishing at the ski area. Incredible slab route around to Taos through Angel Fire, Red River, Eagles Nest? Killer single track over the mountains into Taos. River side camping, lodge, river side bar, restaurant, ice, beer, adult beverages, world class chef at the restaurant, cool temperatures at night, ADV friends, fund raiser, escape internet and cable. Hmmm. No brainer event and I wonder about this thing filling up quickly.

Ubber dog friendly. Also top 10 in the world Frisbee Disc Golf course (s). Harding Pegmatite mine, Taos or Santa Fe art, barter for jewelery with the natives, incredible NM food, canyons and mountains.

Then of course there is the old remote control - lazy boy weekend.

Subscribed and IN!

Where does one register for the non-trials, singletrack part of the event?

what are the costs?

Looks like room/tent spots are charged separately thru the lodge?

Thanks.

Might be in but I have a friend from NH coming in that timeframe and i havent heard his final schedule yet.

Thanks for your inquiry. I will post up a link to the NMOHVA website later this afternoon which will be how you register and pay for the event.

You are correct in that you need to contact:
Sipapu Ski & Summer Resort
5224 New Mexico 518

Vadito, NM 87579
Phone (800) 587-2240

www.sipapunm.com/

to make arrangements for tent camping, cabins, rooms, etc.

Keep watching the thread, as we will be posting more details as we get them all ironed out.

The registration fee for the event will be $55 per rider, which will get you access to all of the activities at Sipapu, a BBQ dinner, T-shirt, ride decal, and an entry into our raffle for various prizes from our vendor sponsors. (we will also be providing maps & GPS tracks for some of the awesome ride routes in the area).

Hello sceep,

The link has now been posted in the first post of this thread (toward the bottom) but here it is again: http://nmohva.wildapricot.org/Defaul...e=EventDetails

The registration fee does not cover your accomodations, you are on your own for that. Sipapu has a wide range of choices including plentiful camping at a very reasonable price.

Hope to see you there!
