Trust me, Tim----Bruce is all in for this event, and we'll make sure he gets plenty of help with the trail cleaning/prep work!

I wasn't implying that Bruce had trails to clear, only that he would know when the snow is likely to be melted out enough to get in with saws. Once we get a little closer to the trails opening, we will try to pull together a crew or two to ensure the trails (and DS roads) are clear.

Event update:
We have modified the NMOHVA link for registration to the Sipapu Shindig with a payment option that all the NMTA trials event participants can use-----http://nmohva.wildapricot.org/Defaul...pageId=1542797

Tater could haul a sawmill with that Frankenbiken

No lowly chainsaw for clearing trails for TH when he has that Suzuktm DRsix50 ready to carry a real load.

If you want to clear trails I believe that Retroone returns every spring to tempt the innocent in to a "fun ride at Sipapu".

Trail Clearing?

Magoo, if and when any trail clearing gets scheduled Im in, I'll be up there starting in may anyway. Im sure Tater and Dave will be on the short list too. I know a few choice trails and one big loop starting at the ski hill and going up to angel fire, Rancho De Taos (Guadalupe Grill lunch break and gas up) and back via single track. This should be a fun weekend.

That is a tall order. Last year retroone pretty much single handedly cleared all of the Sipapu ST. he had the occasional volunteer but I know he put in 4-5 weekends at it. If its like last year, they may not be cleared in time as there just isn't enough time after the snow melt to this event. I suggest that if you are going to ride ST up there to ( mostly the south side) to brush up on your log hopping skilz. . The north side is more tame and also usually requires less sawing.

There is a wind component to how many trees fall. The wind has more effect near the tops of mountains and in wind chutes. If there hasn't been any large wind events then there should be less down fall. But it's still a major job. I might be able to help a weekend or two. I need to get out and do some work.

If I make it for the event I can always haul the saw with me if needed. It slows me down a little on the really nasty but on normal trails I can usually cruise right along just like without it. Better to have it and not need it than vice versa.

I see tent camping options. What about RV camping?

I just finished checking with Sipapu regarding their RV spaces with hookups, and they are all booked for this event.

A lot of the trials guys park their RVs in the front parking lot, this is a possibility for you as well, but you would need to check with Winonah at Sipapu to confirm (Ph # 800 587-2240)

Here's a link to a PDF map of their campsites & accommodations:

I hope you can make the event, it's going to be a fun time!

Thanks! We don't need hookups. Up to Jjustj whether or not we can make this. Given that I've never even ridden a trials bike, I'll watch.

There are all sorts of parking lot camping options at Sip. You can always squeeze in near the 4 RV spots and rob some water if needed. Even borrow some electricity if needed. Plus you can at least put around on a trials bike so that you can scratch that trials ride off your list.

Gimme some ideas, gang!-----
