knobbed tire for a 2000 KLR

I have a 2000 KLR. I am planning to ride some of the Trans-America Trail starting in Mississippi, We did Tennessee a few years ago. I am looking for suggestions on a good knobbed tire that will work on the road also. I am trailoring the bike to Mississippi but I will be taking the roads back to the trailer.

Kenda K270 for me

I have a KLR 650 and my favorite is the Kenda K270. They are inexpensive and work well on dirt or street. They are also fairly quiet on the street. I ride alot of off road and they get through anything i try to do with them.

I keep telling people that Kings tires are pretty darn good...and cheap too (you ride a KLR, so you should like that).

They are very knobbly and DOT approved and last a really, really long time.

I run 'em on my KTM 640 Adventure.

I run the KT-963 front and rear.

You can get 'em shipped free from Motorcycle Superstore.

Be aware...they have very stiff sidewalls and are a bugger to mount by hand.

Cool -- didn't know those Kings were DOT.

However, motorcycle Superstore does not have the 5.10-17 rear needed for the KLR650, and I couldn't pick up any scent of actual stock anywhere else.

K270, I love mine. 100 bucks a set. Great on the road and dirt!
