Satellite phone rentals? Got experience?
I need to pick up a satellite phone for the upcoming Death Valley Rally (the joys of employment!). What have you used and who would you avoid? I don't want stupid cost but I'm not afraid to spend my company's money.
Thoughts?

Sat phone
I've used SatellitePhoneStore.com many times for Baja off-road rides. Always get the Iridium 9505, though you may be able to get a less expensive rental for USA use ? You might check and see who has an LA office - you may be able to save on FedEx or UPS shipping. I paid 70 bucks for a two week rental and bought 25 minutes prepaid for 40. Shipping back and forth was about 35. When you don't have acell signal, they are pretty handy to have - just talk fast.

One of the guys I ride with does this for a living (rent and sells). PM me if interested and I can give you his name and number. He's in Sarasota, FL but they ship all over the world.
