While you're there, take in the Cherohala Skyway from outside Robbinsville to Tellico Plains, TN. Great road with big sweepers, fantastic panoramas, roughly 3000 ft elevation changes, and you can keep a good highway cruising speed without worrying as much about some clown meeting you head on in a curve.

I rode the Skyway June 28th! Saw one bike & 2 cages !
Went up & checked out the Snowbird Lodge right before the welcome sign ! Quite a place!

After the Dragons Tail and Cheohala Skyway take 68 to 60 down to Suches GA and stay at the Two Wheels Only Camp/Lodge. Not far. Wonderful camping/lodging food and Highway 60 is much better than Dragons Tail IMHO. Less switchbacks and more whoppee swoopees.

Amen to that recommendation for Hwy 68. I was through there in June and coming off the Cherohala I headed south out of Tellico Plains on 68 almost as far as Ducktown before turning off on 294 to pick 64 back to Murphy. Hwy 68 is a great ride! Swoopy and fast, and marked as a scenic route in my road atlas. Beautiful countryside!

Depending on which way you're going...

That road is one of the only ways to Robbinsville for freight coming out of the east. So, that means that tractor trailers use the route also. For some reason, this never gets a mention in the press.

Other than that, have fun.

Pictures, Finnaly

Computer took a dump, finnaly got the pictures out of the camera so I could post them.

I was a busy day down at the Dragon. I didn't take any at either end of the Gap, at the overlook or the resturant. Too busy riding, or watching the other riders. Who wants to see a bunch of bikes in a parking lot, anyways?

Can anyone identify this cruiser?

No shoes. Geeez.

My fav of the day.

Lastly, my ride.

Took the BRP home from cherokee, turned into 300 mile day off. Most execelent.

Yup.

I ended up guiding a dumptruck towing a backhoe through my first run through. Stayed about two curves in front after I passed him, just to slow down oncoming riders. Yikes.

That cruiser looks like a Yamaha Road Star Warrior. I'd tell you to come by MR Cycles and check one out up close (they're pretty awesome, but I'm biased since I'm buying an 06) but I sold the last one we had! All the oh-5s we had anyway. They are sooooo much fun to ride.

I rounded a curve up there once and had a big rig halfway in my lane. Good thing I only take up part of a lane. Had I been on a Ural with a sidecar, I might have been killed.
Anyway, enjoy the ride, man.
