Thumb 5th Annual Spring Adventure Ride, Sat. April 13th 2013

Well, the Big storm missed us, the temps are rising, and Spring is just around the corner.
Sounds like a great time to finally get the official 2013 Spring Ride thread, up and running.

As always, Mike and I have been busy, out scouting some of the very best roads that central
Pa has to offer. We did a very extensive recon of a section of both Juniata and Snyder counties,
which will be the focus area for this years ride.

We will be meeting in the parking lot of the GIANT, on route 34, just off of the Newport exit of
route 322. We will be getting under way at 0900, after a brief riders meeting. There is a
McDonalds, and gas pumps right there, so please get there early if you want to eat. Also, please
fill your gas tank before we leave. We will be doing a large loop, which will take us to our
finishing point, down at Summerdale Pa, just off of route 81.

GPS:
40.493095,-77.111868

Route:
* Approximately 175 miles long.
* Starting at the the Newport GIANT and ending at a bar in Summerdale.
* Asphalt roads and approximately 47% graval/dirt roads.
* 1 stream X-ing.
* Nice sites and awesome views along the way.
* Lunch near Selingsgrove, Pa at Wendt's Pork Palace.
* Break stops, including a "play stop" at a powerline .

We hope to see a bunch of you come out and enjoy the day with us. Got questions? Fire away!
Thanks for your support.

Yes, but only after I arrive safely at home, and am done with the riding.

Are you coming down this year Mike?

Yep......As long as you don't mind riding your street bike on gravel and dirt.......Maybe a little water too. Oh yeah, there may be a rock or two on the last road, but it is a road.

I take my vstrom with street tires on the ride, so it's really not too bad of a loop. Pretty user friendly, and fun.

I just looked at some of the pics from last years ride...... I don't think the Valkyrie would like that water. So, the Husa it is! I'm in! Maybe Ms. Informed as well!

It's on my calendar. As to the water crossing, do you think the Susquehanna will be low enough by then?

In (posted on KLR.net also). As I recall, all but one of the water crossings last time were 'optional' with very adjacent routes to avoid them if you were so inclined. Same story this time?
