Thumb All women Adventure Camp

(2-21-10 Update) Clarification: All Women = Women only for training, seminars, meals and camp. Sorry guys this one is for us.

During the Spokane Motorcycle show Rainbow007, Sector and I visited with Bret from Puget Sound Safety after the Dual Sport seminar. One thing led to another and the discussion had us talking about an all Women Adventure Camp and would Puget Sound be willing to offer one. A few phone calls back and forth and we have it lined up. Yippee!

Where: Roy, WA (W of Olympia)

When: May 8 & 9, 2010

What: Specialized training on handling large dual sport and adventure type bikes off road. Topics range from riding skills, to rope recovery, satellite trackers, bike prep, packing, and cooking. There are also riding lessons, clinics, seminars, and meals!

Who: Women who would like to enhance their Adventure Riding skills and women who would like to test the waters of Adventure Riding. You do need to know how to ride a motorcycle and bring your own but you don’t need to be dirt proficient for this.

My first reaction was I didn’t want to pay the money then I realized I don’t blink an eye at buying things to protect my motorcycles (engine guards, skid plates, bark busters, insurance) so why do I want to be cheap when it comes to learning to ride my motorcycles better?

Our camp includes three nights of camping, three meals, and snacks.

Rainbow007 and I will be leaving Spokane Friday morning May 7th and see what type of scenic route we can find to ride on our way over to Roy. On the way back Monday, we’ll do the same unless we are too pooped.

I’m excited about this, I think it’s going to be a lot of fun and I certainly can use all the training I can get.

Go here to read more about Adventure Camp and register:
http://www.pssor.com/schedule.php?type=adv and you can register over the phone
253-770-8888

(update 2-21-10) There are rental dirt worthy bikes available. If you need/want one please call the Safety School at 253-770-8888. There will be limited bikes available for Sat. because of another class so if you need one register and make your bike arrangements so you have first choice. Sunday they will have their entire fleet availble for us to try the different bikes.

This morning I also received confirmation Ride West is sponsoring this and will have their demos there for us to try as well. Note: It costs more than what we are being charged for the Safety School to do this camp and Ride West is offsetting some of the costs. Be sure to thank them if you stop by the dealership.

I'd be game... would have to wear a dress, and hide my adam's apple, and pad a bra, and... oh, never mind...

Look at Yelm for hotels -n- such, about 5 miles south of Roy.
Not much in Roy but a drunk harley steak-house and an ex-wife.

I would be IN in a hot second if I had a bike for playin' in the dirt. I'm still cleaning my shorts from the last time I took the SV off-road!

That being said, I've started a slush fund for some dirty wheels. So maybe next year? hee!
