Is the Garmin 665 junk?
I am just asking. I have had my 665 for about 6 months and have had several problems. After downloading the upgrades, the unit quit shutting it self off and for a short while I was getting the sattelite wheater maps. The maps have since quit showing up. I was able to see the ambient temp. and now that is gone. Just wondering if others were having trouble. Thanks

OK, if it is only 6 months old it is still under warranty by Garmin and they will fix it. Call them at Customer Support. If you bought it used you will have to pay to have them send you a refurb unit. Or maybe you just need some online help. Good luck with that, it can be frustrating.

I have a 660 for a few years, which pretty much the same unit minus XM maybe, and have had zero problems. Map issues? Yes. Downloading of maps take far to long and speeds are erratic. Some times 30 min other times 12 hours! Not the units fault though.
I just got the BMW Nav 4 free on a promo 6 months ago, which is the same unit plus some BMW software and a different mount also no problems. I think you just got a bad one. It happens. Electronics can be flakey some times. Warranty it and press on with no worries.
