Quick question for the collective.

My 2001 640E has developed a small leak on the seal that lives on the shifter/kick starter rod. I have a new gasket and o-ring in hand, but before I pop the old one off is there I should know or anything different? Or is it the usual, like other bikes and pop the old on off and put a new one on with a seal driver?

I'm leaving for a long ride at the end of the week and don't want to screw it up before the trip.

Thanks, I knew you'd have the answer.

However, the seal I got from Munn Racing looks nothing like either of the ones you've pictured. I guess I better call and find out before I begin.

The stock Brake crossover line is too short for a high fender setup and I want to keep dual discs.

Is there a longer right caliper cable available from Ktm and if so how to route it?

You probably have the inner seal that mounts in the case... You can probably get a seal hook to pry that one out, it should be easier to change than the shift shaft seal that I had pictured in the link...

Yeah, you better check real good as to which seal is actually leaking...

So, after not installing my rear luggage rack for the 1.5yrs of owning it, I found out tonight that it doesn't fit my bike. The rear tabs for the subframe holes are not in the right position and it seems like the length of the "grab" handles isn't long enough for my rear fender. I have a 2000 LC4E 400, (which is technically more of a '99 - thanks for the loose model year changes KTM!).

Any ideas of what this rack would fit? Earlier 620s? Guess I need to sell or trade it for the right one.

On my LC4 I think the rear support tabs should be on the central bars....

That looks pretty much identical to the rack on my 2002 640adv.

Thanks for the feedback gents. If anyone in here wants it, I'll trade it for the proper fitting rack or a skid plate. I'm going to post it up in the fs section when I get back from my sw Utah trip.

I talked to Chip Munn and he said that KTM made several design changes to the seals depending on year of production, so the one he sent me is supposedly the correct one, so we'll see.
