It looks "bad" here, but that is the point of the Index thread - not to answer questions (NICO ), but to tell people where to go... and no, not to Hades.

Does anybody have a spare seat pan or seat?

I want one of those snazzy Renazco seats, but Jim tells me I have to send him my seat in order to get it done.

I'd be willing to purchase, borrow, swap later, etc etc.

Thanks!

Post up a WTB in the FleaMarket.

Was it explained to you that you would only be without your seat for a week or so? (This is what was 'splained to me, Lucy.) If you don't need the bike as a main mode of transport, then a week really isn't long to wait for a custom seat.

Sometimes, there is a chance they come across an extra seat pan that would work on your bike as well. Ask about the options for doing that. You may need to send a refundable deposit for the extra pan until they get yours and verify it isn't all booged up.

I can't stress enough that I am only throwing ideas/opinions here. Don't tell James or Chris that "Nico said you'd take care of me...". I don't need the Renazco Army after me. I have enough problems already, thank you very much.

Cry Thanks NICO

No, Jim didn't say it might only be for a week. He said he was backed up until August of September, so I "assumed" it would take longer than a week to get the new seat done.

I suppose I could do without her for a week and ride the 'Strom. Thanks!

I would like to mod my 640 Adventure and change the front wheel from 90/90-21 to some 110/90-19 and rear one to 150/80-17.
The reason: for more on then off roads. Better on tarmack, better tires.

Is there a thread?
Am I crezy or stupid?
What say u people?

Hey Vlade,

Do you really find the 21/19 combo limiting? What's wrong with the Sahara III tires for mostly on-road? What tires are you trying to use that only come in 19/17?

I found the Sahara's on the stock wheels great for everything I've thrown at them, they eat potholes like nobody's business

Continental Trail Attack

Hi,

Well I use Pirelli Scorpio and I'm not very pleased.
I would like to use the new Continental Trail Attack [http://www.conti-bike.co.uk/default.asp?spid=4] ... and it isn't only about the tires but also about better maneuvrability on cornering. I could try the usual SM 17" but I think is too much.

I don't know what to say, I ride an V-strom and the new Transalp, didn't like the engine but the filling of the wheels was better.

I rode a friend's 640E with SM wheels and rubber on a track day which was fine-I don't know if he did any other mods to go with them though?

Question CARB dripping

So last fall when I put the 2007 640 Adventure away for the season I turned off the petcock and rode the bike until it ran out of gas.

The next day, I noticed a wet spot under the bike and upon checking, found that a overflow/drain/vent hose from the carb was dripping. It stopped dripping after a day or so, so I didn't think anything of it for the last several months.

So yesterday I took the bike out for the first time this season, and once again I turned off the petcock when I got home, and ran it out of gas (multiple bikes means weeks before I'll ride this one again).

Same thing happened, with a dripping leak from the same hose.

I do this procedure all the time with dirt bikes with no problem - since it's much easier than draining the carb manually...so is my dripping problem something to do with the type of carb that doesn't like to be run out of gas, or is something wrong and I need to rebuild the carb?

Thanks! dwdorr1

47.5 idle jet for BST-40?

Anyone have a 47.5 idle jet lyin' around they'd be willing to ship to Austin? Having a helluva time finding a local (KTM, HD, other) dealer that has one in stock.

Thanks in advance,
Scott

Usually a sign the float valve isn't closing completely and letting a little fuel into the bowl, eventually filling and overflowing out the tube. It's a slight possibility you may eventually get fuel into the cylinder this way, and then it will leak past the rings and into the crankcase. Unlikely, but possible.

It's not unusual for the KTM petcock to be worth little more than a pile of beans. IOW, it closes the flow of fuel for shit.

Not exactly the best thread to post a WTB ad, but I gotta ask if you've bothered to call Munn. Idle Jet 47.5
