Got your PM, Meat. I can't find a way around the 20k per post limit, but have asked in the mod forum for idears. Gimme some time, I'm on it...

Here's a round-a-bout solution:

Sticky just a link to the index as a separate web page (hosted where? here?), which in turn takes you to the linked thread

As a separate page, no character limitation and all the benefits of HTML. Easier to use, searchable, page links....

Maybe it's not such a bad idea after all??? Meat, you know how to write HTML right? You up for something like this?

Well I would be happy with another "Meat Popsicle" post inserted right after the first one so I can split the Index in two (and maybe reorganize it into essential vs. other or ?).

I don't write HTML but those fellas are a dime a dozen so no problem there. External links are a bad thing since they expire quite often. Maybe something in the Hell o' Wizdum with the index or such would suffice?

ps - you can search the index now eh? Ctrl-F in Firefox

I just see it as an ongoing issue now that you're so close to the max. More threads will need to be added to existing 'categories/headings'. "Page/Part 1" will continue to expand, even with a "Part/Page 2". You'll end up needing to shift stuff from page 1 to page 2 as 1 adds more posts/threads. It just seems simpler (to me) to create a separate "living document" that the sticky simply links to. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what Arch comes up with.

(yup - keep forgetting about Ctrl-F )

Well, doesn't appear to be a way around the hard limit via admin panel, so I've PM'd Baldy to see if he knows of a way, but it ain't likely. Can't insert a post beneath yours, either, Meat. They go in by date.

I have another idea, but lemme wait to hear back from Baldy about the limit before acting on it. Also, busy as hell with the big Motorcycle Show this weekend, so please be patient.

Thank you for your assistance Arch! I am holdin' my water well.

If you feel like you are taking too long, and if it made you feel better to give me your RFS, I wouldn't even think of holdin' it against you.

An excellent work-around. With apologies to Chris, the deed is done. Oh, and Meat, the RFS's in the mail.
