Just wonderong/hoping there might be someone who has some older stock, or other bikes that have been put out to pasture and theres an engine somewherein a back room??

any ideas?
thank you you wonderful people!

Stay safe!
Pretty tough to find any deals on new engines... Ebay has quite a selection of parts if your willing to gamble on used stuff to build a second engine...

I wish i had asked exactly this question because after putting 4000k on mine, this is what happened, (see link below) and it will cost me half of what the bike cost me to fix.

Almost unbelievable how bad it caused damage. Just glad the rear wheel didn't lock up on me completely because i was doing 120km/h at the time ... it jut shut off and rolled to a stop.

Check the mainshaft bearing.... and good luck!

YIKES!

Is there an easy way for me to check if my bearing has been replaced? I have a 2000 lc4e with 7800 miles that i bought used a few months ago with very little maintance history. It runs like a champ. It seems like people that have had issues with the bearing they have them with much less miles than I have on mine.

Can I take off the left side cover when i do my next oil change and see it? I am not a mechanical expert but am learning.

Thanks!

Thanks guys for the info. Yes it was the one on the mt craigslist but he hasn't replied to any of my messages so I don't think I'll be getting it. He probably already sold it.

I've never changed mine, LC4 400 with 6400 miles. Bought it new with .7 miles on it.
Reckon I should.

Hey guys-
I could use a pointer in the right direction. I just can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

03 640 adventure-
My issue is I've got a choke that's stuck. I've taken apart the actual lever and that's not it, the cable does not seem to freely move in/out of the carb. It is not stuck in the on position, it won't come on. Any pointers or tips?

I haven't done anything to the carb, it's stock, about 9k miles.

Take the cable off at the carb end & find out if it's a stuck cable, or if the piston on the end of the cable is stuck in it's bore in the carb. They are a fiddly fucker to remove, be careful not to wreck the plastic nut.

Cheers
Clint

I think I did this - when I had the lever apart I was able to pull back the cable housing from the carb, the cable does not appear to pull through at all or push, it's like it's seized in there.

If that's the case, do I need to remove the whole carb and clean it out where the choke is?

You are in the index thread, go to p1, look up Laramie's guide to the BST carb for details & pics.

It's not an actual choke but an enrichener valve - the lil piston may be stuck in the bore, it might just need to be pulled out & cleaned up with some scotchbrite, this can be done with the carb in the bike.

Cheers
Clint

Right at the top of P1 but don't feel bad, Laramie was back here promoting it so many must miss it too.

I think I should have called this thread a "Table of Contents" instead of an index thread, so people would have looked for the ToC at the beginning.

Looking for a parts list for a 99 LC4 640 SM. I Need to find out what bulb the headlight takes. But on another note I would like to see if I can find some other things outside of going to the dealer every time.

Thanks,
Roger

Fill out your location so we can give more accurate device

Anyways, if your in the U.S. I would call munnracing or mikescyclektm.com I've ordered from each of these locations while doing my lc4e rebuild with great success.

How about some camping in Pennsylvania?

How am I supposed to think out of the box; if they don't let me out of the box?
