(It's funny, one time I mentioned to the parrts guy at a local MC shop that I was thinking about getting a BMW, his response was "Why, do you want to be a snob?")

Friends don't let friends go to Starbucks, find a local coffee shop instead, the product will likely be better, and you'll be helping a local buisiness instead of a huge chain. JMHO

Funny thing is, that stretch between Pemberton and Lillooet is about as far from civilization as many of those guys go. And it's a rare one indeed that'd do the whole loop.

And on that same nice summer day you spotted GS riding E&C types on 99, you'd see twice that number at the downtown Starbucks on Robson and Thurlow, keeping the Ducati guys company. Stereotypes work because they're based on truth. :)

Good point, but I still prefer coffee from the smaller houses.

Ummm... I'm pretty sure that if you go to get coffee, you are more of a snob than you probably care to admit, even if you don't ride a BMW. Doesn't anybody own a coffee pot at home?

LOL, maybe throw a backpacking stove and french press into the saddle bags, along with a cooler for the cream? Sometimes it's nice to stop at a cafe and get a cup of coffee maybe a scone or something, maybe wait for the rest of the crew to arrive etc.

Snob or not, i still think i want a BMW, and a Honda, and a Triumph, and a Norton, and a Ural, and aRoyal Enfield, and and and I love all bikes, I just wish I had the resources to have one of each, you know like Jay leno.

I ride a GS with aluminum boxes. I wear Hi-viz gear. I don't ride off road. I don't ride to Starbucks. My fave place for coffee and pastries is about 90 miles away.
Most people I know call my GS an "enduro". I'm not really sure what they call me.
Its just a motorcycle. Ride it.

It's more than that. It's an image. It's a lifestyle. It's a marketing device. It's a basis for accessories sales. It's a BMW.

And it's way overrated.
