safari tank issues for super enduro?

Has anyone had problems with the Safari tank for the 950SE? Seems like lots of issues with the 950/990 tanks, but I haven't heard of any probs with the SE tank yet.

Trying to be informed before I shell out $800!

The first 8 galloner I received had some issues:

With the first returned a replacement soon arrived. It didn't have the leak issue as the first but the finish was crap, riddled with pinhead sized craters. Didn't accept that one either. I have three buddies with the 8 gallon on their SEs and none show the finish that these two have. Waiting on a third one. Keep ya posted.

thanks dunerat, it was a pic of your bike that got me hankerin' for a Safari!

you rode with a buddy of mine (rinconrider) after I'd just bought my SE. Wish I lived down in CA, incredible riding all year round, though there's some pretty horrible fires in your riding area right now.

so where are folks getting the Safari tank for the SE these days?

it looks like justgastanks.com has them for $750.

I just ordered one from justgastanks, couldn't find one less anywhere. ( I didn't look very hard though )

I had an issue initially with a leak at the fuel sensor unit seal - never seated flush, battled a bit and eventually got it right.....worth every cent!

Greetings,
I've been battling with the dilemma of wanting the Black Safari tank for appearances, but believing the Clear tank more practical, as you can see the fuel level from the outside.
For those that own these tanks, which color did you choose, and why?

I've had my tank for about 3 months . black one , Didn't line up to well but with a little help from a mate we got it to line up . 1000s of tiny pin holes in the tank but that didn't worry me (dont notice it once it was on the bike ) . Did think about clear but clear tanks look really huge on the bike . just an optical illusion , black is slimming . thats why fat chicks wear black jeans . had no problems with leaks and everything else lined up really well .
