what is better for offroad
looking at putting a hack on my xl1000v and am wondering what is the best for off road a leaner or solid mounted

thanks guys that is what i was thinking just loved the idea of the leaner but didnt know how it would handle the bouncing

Keep in mind
that you won't be able to modify the steering which could make for heavy going if driving in rough off road conditions when locked in.

Look around and see how many leaners there are compared to rigid outfits. Leaners are unique and cool and have been with us in the sidecar world for ages. However they are what they are and have nevr really caught on on a big scale. . Yes, they are cool but they will not offer the stability of a rigid sidecar, cannot be happy with additional loads like a rigid and they can be dropped similar to a solo bike. Still.... either way would be neat but I would certainly go with a rigid without hestation for the reasons mentioned above.
Someday I would like to build a leaner. Have ridden them and they are fun but still the choice to do a rigid is I feel a better one for you. Just an opinion...everyone has one

I've got a leaner on a road bike and I love it but I wouldn't want a leaner for offroad driving.
A rigid hack gives more stability and that is what you need in offroading, a leaner is great fun on open roads with long sweeping turns. On terrain it would just be a very heavy, dragging pannier on 1 side.
