Washington DC Area-Adventure-Spec Magadan Panniers MK2?

I am hoping to locate someone within +/- 1 hour of Washington DC that owns the Adventure-Spec Magadan Panniers MK2 bags. As I don't find a US distributor, I am not likely to return them if I don't like them once they swim across the big Atlantic pond. So, I'd like to look at them in person before I pull the trigger. I don't believe it should take more than 15-20 mins of your time and happy to meet you at your desired location.

PM McGarrett. He has Adventure spec panniers, but I don't know what version (I don't think they have that AS embroidery on them). He's in NoVA and I believe he works in/close to DC. But he generally commutes on his other bike.

Wondering if you ever got to check them out or buy em? As this is the same setup I'm looking to do.

Sigh, nope.

McGarrett and I had too many irons in the fire at the time. By the time the dust settled, in early fall he was slated to be relocating out of Washington DC.

Giant Loop Siskiyou's

I've a buddy in Fla who has a set of these on his KLR. They have the capacity of a hard case (35L) but seem more versatile. . Super rugged. Easy on off. Pretty damn water proof. We spent about 5 hours in Florida monsoon rains one summer and not a damn drop found its way inside. They are built like tanks.

He could still ride two up as well.

New, they aren't cheap. But I'd be willing to bet you will have more luck finding a set used at a reasonable price

Thanks. I've had now 2 products from Giant loop (Giant Loop and the Fandango). The construction method just lends itself to water intrusion. By comparison, my Wolfman's and the new Altrider Hemisphere bags (used on a rental bike) have had worse abuse, and always come home dry.

Just looking for the 'golden goose' and thought Magadan's were worth another look.
