Hello. My name is Greg is I just moved from Chicago to Murfreesboro. Looking forward to discovering some better riding down here than was available in the Mid-West. Also looking forward to meeting the local riding community.

My bike is still in ChicagoLand but it'll be down here pretty soon. I'm going back in early August for my first track day with old friends and will bring it home after that trip.

Thanks,
Greg

Howdy Greg, there is a ride to eat scheduled for August 23rd......might be a good place / time for you to meet up with some of us and get acquainted even if you don't have your bike by then.

Thanks clocklaw! That's right up my alley since I love to ride AND I love to eat :) Should have my bike down here by then. Put it on my calendar. I'll go through the thread to find the details.

Thanks! Got the location and time. While I'm not a big fan of riding at night out in the country it looks like I'll be in good company.

I know what you mean. I've had two seperate encounters with deer in the last few years, and one of them was close to ending badly (but managed to keep it upright).

As far as good company..... see what you think after you've met some of these animals.

Buddy of mine in Chicago just wrecked his bike pretty bad hitting a deer at 40+ mph up in the middle of Wisconsin. We all gave him a pretty hard time about riding in the country at dusk. As in, "duh...you moron...what were you thinking...of course you wrecked your bike you...etc, etc.

I'd get no end of grief from them if I hit a giant antlered rat doing the same thing But life is all about risk and reward, right?

I was riding with a buddy two summers ago, camping, and on the way back to the campground after a late dinner, a deer came out of a ditch, right into the side of me. I saw it only when it was about 2 feet from me. I was doing right at 40mph, and had it gone a second earlier, it would have been way worse. Pushed me into the other lane, with traffic coming toward me, and shook me up pretty good later that night once the adrenaline wore off. Cracked a radiator shroud, and I found hair in velcro on my gear, luggage, and in side panels for a few weeks afterward. Not fun, and I seriously limit night riding now, but I'm planning on riding to this one.

I'll ride over with you. I know a super secret shortcut where they're aren't any deer and we can haul ass.

Trust me.

Greg, now that we have you on your way to the RTE, I have a comment about your Chicago Riding. I actually have two friends in the Chicago area that Ride....good friends.....but surely there are more than 3 motorcycles in the greater Chicago area.

You'll be making all of your friends up there jealous when you head out for a ride in January here! The winter's are short so if you plan to do maintenance then, you'll have to hurry up!

Okay, looks like everyone (including myself) has been too busy riding to post in this thread so I thought I'd give it a little bump. Been in Maggie Valley all weekend and just headed home today......beautiful weather and amazing roads.....also some great friends!
I even got to meet the elusive Richard the Cat but he disappeared before I could get my camera out....keep riding safe and post when you can.

The important question is... did you get the t-shirt?
