I'm not sure if this is the same run but, any ride in that area sounds like it would be a blast on "Godzilla".

Easier to contact me with a P.M., as I NEVER check E-Mail unless I'm stressing over late farkles.

I understand, we usually send out an e-mail to the common group about a week or two in advance. I also typically post them on the Nashvilleriders forum.

Just a heads up.....

Was out riding SW of Nashville yesterday, down towards Waynesboro and coming back north I got on the Trace at the Merriweather Lewis Memorial. The Memorial was closed and blocked off, as was the DISTRICT OFFICE. The district office near Leiper's Fork, on 46, was not blocked off, but I saw no one there either.

Makes me wonder, with the federal government shutdown and national parks being closed.......is there any patrolling being done on the Trace? Hmmmm

That is an interesting point....I am surprised they haven't closed the gates on the road. On the similar note, US129 is a federal route, does that mean it isn't patrolled either? I doubt it.

My guess is they are running a skeletal crew to provide safety patrols on the trace.

The Trace is a PARKway....the whole length of it is a FEDERAL park, so whom else but FEDERAL PARK RANGERS have jurisdiction on it, I wonder? Would state or county be able to patrol it? I've never seen any of them on it, has anyone else?

Also, the gates?........there are several places to access it that have no gates....but I guess they could put up road blocks if the wanted to.

Sure wish I knew for sure.....

I rode it last weekend from the top around mile marker 444 down to Waynesboro and It was a great ride. BUT, just a few more mph would make it awesome! Especially those first few miles that are 40mph.

Just sayin'

Not sure exactly where mile 444 is, but I rode the section from route 20 north to route 46 on Tuesday.......at quite a bit higher a rate of speed....

Going to be doing the section from 46 north as part of a much longer ride next weekend.....probably not at the posted speed limit however....
