Yup. Just remember that in Norway in the mountains even in summer you can still encounter snow and temperatures of around 3C. So remember to take one or two sets of wool underwear.

Suggested highlights for an Australian in Europe

In NW France, Villiers Brettoneaux alternative to Gallipoli as a pilgrimage to Aussies. South of Paris, castles in the Loire Valley. The Dordogne valley. Nimes, Arles and Avignon in Provence. If the weather is too cool, head to Spain, my choice is Sevilla. If not, Flick up the Napolean Way from Cannes to Grenoble take a gander at Grindlewald in Switzerland, get yourself to Fussen in Bavaria to see mad king Ludvig's fairytale castle. Munich for the beer. Through the alps into Italy, Tuscany, Rome, Pompeii, up to Venice, into Slovenia then down the Croatian coast to the peloponnese, Athens, ferry to Crete, Rhodes, Turkey......
Just some highlights which won't disappoint. If you had enough time and money and weather you could never stop.

Munich for the beer is totally wrong. Everybody know the best German beer is Kölsch, which is only brewed in Cologne. The only reason everyone is telling you to go to Munich is the big tourist trap called Oktoberfest. If you want to pay too much money for average beer go there ;)

If you want to ride some nice motorcycles roads in Germany come to the Eifel, an area near the border to Netherlands and Belgium. And shoot me a message should you come near Heimbach there ;)

Unfortunately, everybody else in Europe is also looking for the same things.

Weather is good and competition for resources (open roads, empty hotel rooms, etc.) is significantly less from mid June to late July.

+1 LOVELY roads and little traffic. I was "commuting" between Spangdahlem and the NurburgRing a couple of years ago and the roads and scenery were great.

July and August aren't that busy from a motorcyclists point of view in Austria IMHO.

Yes, motorways can be very busy but who wants to ride those. Some of the more famous places such as The Grossglockner can get a higher level of traffic but I actually find the overtaking on these roads just as enjoyable. I may be spoilt because I am here all year round

The Tourist Traps such as Halstatt will be heaving but as far as motorcycling goes, it it still fantastic and the weather is pretty much guaranteed good. Certainly in our area most non bikers are here for the hiking etc... We have many bikers who come back year after year in July and August.

Accommodation can get booked up in some areas, especially if you are looking for beds for a group and the Dolomites and Sud Tirol in August get very booked up due to the whole of Italy going on holiday at the same time.

Camping?

Hi Dilli,
will you be taking camping gear? It gives you flexibility, and takes the stress out of finding accommodation as you always have a backup, plus it's cheaper.
Regards,
Mark.
