Overseas travel insurance recommendations

Well, I have no doubt that this topic has been beaten to death in more than one tread on ADV before. However, I have failed in being able to find any of these threads using the search function.

Therefore, my globe trotting friends, I am seeking advice on the topic of travel insurance.

I have never purchased travel insurace in the past and have been lucky not to have needed any.

Next month I'm going to Australia to spend a month riding a DR in the dirt up the west coast. Given that if I break myself down under it could get real spendy real quick to get my busted ass home, I thought I'd buy some coverage.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
HOB

Travel Insurance

I used HTH Worldwide for my South America trip and my most recent trip to Morocco. I will also use them whenever I'm heading into Canada. Long story... but short: Don't ride through Canada without some sort of supplementary Health Insurance as most US Health Insurance doesn't cover much.

HTH Worldwide has always been easy on the front end, and I have been very fortunate to not need their services beyond having a card in my wallet.

MedJetAssist is also widely used incase you need your a** slung out of the bush and back to the USA in a quick hurry.

I also saw MotoQuest Tours advertising an insurance product that I believe was called GlobalAssist... maybe? I'm sure you could call MotoQuest or send them an email...

Cheers,

Justin

You know Australia is fairly civilized! Have fun though, I spent 4 mos there last year around this time (work) nice place, and just hanging out was not a whole lot more expensive than here. My only word of advice is always have water on you. And yes get some insurance in case you have troubles. Should be fairly pain free though. (my beer of choice in Oz was Coopers Original Pale Ale) Tasty!

I can not recommend Medjet......failed me when needed.

I now carry D.A.N. - Diver Alert Network...you do not need to a diver, this is accident insurance.
