Saturday ride in the Spanish mountains

I braved the cold weather this Saturday here in Northern Spain, put on my woolies, including my newly acquired socks from BMW. I don't want to advertise for them, but they are actually very good, they do as it says on the tin! Keep your feet nice and warm and dry!

I had me a really nice nice day out on my bike riding up and down snow covered mountain passes, and it wasn't that cold, I only had the heated grips on the first level. That's a great invention isn't it!

Anyway here's a few pics. Sorry but I didn't take that many and they are a little under exposed.

I stopped at a local biker cafe for a quick coffee and a piece of home made cake to warm-up and stock-up on calories.

Those mountains there in the yonder is where I'm-a-heading.

Nearly at the top. The roads are nice and dry, it looks like the snow plough has been busy, nice of them to oblige.

Trying to do an artistic photo here.

This is it, this is about as high as it gets on this pass. It's all down hill now down to sea level. Of course I shall take the long way round!

See you next time.

Geez, I can't imagine why you need wool socks and the grip heaters on. Those are my requirements at 50F.

Talking

OK, I'm back with a few more pics from this Saturdays run on that marvelous piece of German engineering, apart from that f@king rear wheel bearing But, before I show you them, please allow me to do a bit of cheating and squeeze in the ones I took on Thursday.

I have some days holiday owed to me from last year, so I thought I would take the day off work on Thursday since the weather forecast was for excellent biking weather.

So without further ado:-
This is where I started from - Vitoria reservoir.

Thought you might like this sign-board.

The views are getting better as the day progresses.

Reservoir of Sobron, this is one cool road that runs parallel to it in the Valley of Tobalina in the Sierra de Pancorbo.

There are a few of these tunnels along this stretch of road.

A close-up of the tunnels.

Lovely little waterfall and pool.

Lovely little town, can't remember the name.

Cool restaurant in Santoña - Cantabria.

Laredo beach.

Playing with the camera.

And lastly, a bit of artistic photography.

OK, now for this Saturday. Sorry but It was a shorter run and I spent half of it showing my nephew Ander the ropes with his new 125 Yamaha. Welcome to the biker club Ander!

Making my decent to the valley.

I thought you might like this one, where I stopped for a quick pincho (snack) and a mosto (grape juice). These Spanish lessons are free!

That's all folks. Asta la vista!

Hi there neighbor. Sorry I didn't mean to copy your photo, it looks nicer than mine with the green foliage in the background. But not because it has a faster blue one! I'm not looking for speed, I'm looking for adventure! That's a nice looking KTM.

Hope to catch-up with you one day, maybe at Juanjas for a coffee. Ride safe.
