Riding Season

Well its clear to me its coming early. I can't wait to get out on the bike. When do you guys think the roads are going to start being passable on two wheels. Will we be riding in february?

considering it was 43* here in Palmer yesterday I say they are rideable now(during the day). I think as long as you are very aware of the silt and gravel in the corners you are good. I won't hit the roads for a while yet, but I've seen a couple of brave souls out and about.

Highways have been "ride-able" off and on throughout the winter, but there's no guarantee they will remain that way for a while. Quite a few years back the Glenn Hwy out of Palmer was closed due to heavy snowfall at the end of April. Most of the time, for the past 15 years, I have been able to get out and ride a bit while the Arctic Man is going on up in Isabel Pass.

You guys and gals down there in the "banana belt" are getting spoiled.

Here's to global warming.

Lived here long?

I recall two years when the worst weather of the season was unleashed in April and just a couple of years ago we had fresh snow in mid May.

We might get some riding time in early this year but I suspect that declaring it such might be tempting fate.

Seems like nearly all main roads are rideable in the valley. Theres allso loads of trails and lakes that are easily rideable due to the low snowfall if you have carbides in your tires. http://biglaketrails.org/trails.html

This winter has been a real gift to the rider and the skater alike:

Big fun indeed. I now have 1030 miles behind me on skates this year. Seen some awesome country that way. Should end the season with about 1400 miles. Tons more videos here. If you look back far enough you can see some riding videos from last summer.

Hey all, it's been a pretty nice February so far in the lower end of the panhandle. A nice partly cloudy and 45 degree today, so will have to find a excuse to get the bike out. After the close to 2.5 feet of rain we had in January it's almost arid by comparison.
