G/day Oso.

Looking very good, It is what I have had in mind since I bought my 2010 GS. The TT tank is not user friendly, and over priced to buggery, (Oz expression)

I have H&B pannier frames.

So, my thinking is buy your tank, fit it and modify the H&B frames to suit.

Timing is perfect. I ship my F800GS out of Oz on the 15th May to be collected in Portland, Oregon on the 8th July. Attending the BMWOA rally in Salem, then the following week, the Big Foot sidecar rally in BC, then to my mate in Edmonton Alberta for his world m/c travellers meeting in the Rockies the following weekend.

Where can we meet?

I'm 2.5 hours south of Edmonton. If the "world m/c travellers meeting" is the HUBB event in Nakusp then we could likely meet there as I plan on attending.

Very inovative. Congrats on a very well thought out and executed design.

As far as removal, have you found it necessary to remove most racks to install/remove it? When removed, do you have a provision in mind to quickly bypass it? Like a quick connector to put the fuel line and return together?

I'm undecided on which hard bags I want right now. Was leaning toward the Jesse's, Kirk's, or Holan's so far.

This would be a nice option for future long trips out west where I hear you can go a long way before seeing the next gas station....

The tank can be removed with some racks left on but others need to be removed. The BMW system needs to removed (right side only) but the Zega racks are OK. It really depends on how tight the rack is the bike.

As far as bypassing the lines, yes, very simple to do. You will just reattach the factory vent line to it's original location and you're done.

Thinking inside the box... Why not build a tank that can go inside a jesse?

Possibly a stupid question but would it be a safe bet to say that this tank won't work with the new 2014 adv 800gs?

G/day Oso,

No, its not the HUBB meeting, which I hope to attend as well, but the Canadian MRT meeting,(Motorrad-Reise-Treffen) for world motorcyclist travellers which began in Germany at Geiboldehausen back in 1997, and organised by a mate Wolfgang who now lives in Edmonton. I last attended the meeting in Germany in 2011, and there were over 600 attendees!
This meeting is the 1st weekend in August in BC,(can't find the campground) but knowing Wolfie and his wife Annie it will be well worth attending.

So I'm keen to buy one of your tanks, but I still want to see it in the flesh. That extra 7 to 8 lts makes the difference for safe touring especially here in Oz. I will be arriving in Alberta around the end of July.

Definitely will not fit the new GSA. If you need more than the 24liters the new bike (or reg F800 + Camel Tank) offers, then the Touratech unit is a good choice.

I know the MRT and Wolfgang/Anny well! I attend every year and usually do a presentation or tech clinic of some sort. I will be there again this year. There is a cool backcountry adventure planned for 2013, should be a great time! It's at Toad Rock Campground near the Balfour ferry terminal on Kootenay Lake.

I have my hands full with the ver.1 Camel Tank and once it's done then I'll be looking hard at a ver.2 for the Hepco Becker style racks.

There needs to be enough demand to warrant hundreds of hours in design time and tens of thousands in molds/molding cost, brackets, fittings etc. Would there be enough people willing to dish out $300-500 for a very brand/model specific product like an in-pannier-tank for Jesses? I have no idea. Either way. I love hearing suggestion for products people would like to see built

Its a bloody small world! I have known Wolfgang for many years ever since he 1st rode in Oz on his white African Queen back in the mid 90's. My 1st MRT in Germany was in 2000. He invited me over early this year and offered to lend me his F800GS, but I decided to ship my bike over instead.

Have just spoken to him tonight about my travel plans, and plan to be in Edmonton Sunday evening 28th July.

Look forward to meeting you and having a beer.

Chris

So you need pictures or need to see it in person?
