The " OLD " labrador,LONG ride !

First post so bear with me :)
Found this place as i was story telling to a friend how i was the first documented rider of a full dress touring motorcycle to cross labrador solo,unaided.. ( still have the notes from the brakeman and the conductor of the only train that ran there, both worked it for 20 yrs. )
Was reading a thread as a guest about Labrador trips and it brought back a lot of old memories.
Back then film cameras were all we had and no internet so my picture taking was slim but i still have some stored some place.

The trip started at my home in N.H. and went to Cabo San Lucas and back.
was early june by then and i decided that having been the furthest south west on the continent the furthest north east would be a trip.

Having rode bikes since 1962 i wasnt new to what was needed but labrador had some surprises i wasnt prepared for.

From a howling snow storm in july that destroyed my tent and sleeping bag to a bear scavenging all my food leaving me with nothing to eat but fish i caught to crashing on the bad road to getting my bike on the train at Schefferville ( sp ) and getting it OFF the train in Sept Isles Quebec..

There was no road accross then,,in fact the road from goose bay to church hill falls was not usuable most of the time.
the supplies came in by the train from the old mining town of schefferville (sp) and east to churchill falls.

Now there is a road from Lab city and there is pavement !! ??

Didnt know if this was a place an old timer who cant ride anymore would find somebody interested in some OLD time adventures :)
well,, they dont seem OLD to me !! but still 35 years ago is a bit of time :)
The baja and newfoundland and labrador seem to have changed from what i see :(

tnx.

Thank you..
should i start with the Baja trip in like,,i think it was about 1981 i started the quest..
oh yeh,,the drug smugglers i ran into there,,,and the corrupt police :)

or the labrador trip ??

The ordeal took a long time and like i said, covered from the state of N.h. accross country to Cabo and back and maine,New brenswick, nova Scotia,Newfoundland and then to labrador.
I know i got a pic of when i laid the bike down in Lab.
the old Guzzie didnt get damaged tho :)

let me get my thots together and come up with a partial story anyway, try to scan some pix to post with it.

As the kids say,

Post up your stories! Those of us who have ridden it would probably like to hear what it was like 35 years ago...
