Auto switch off of turn signal?

My turn signal switch seems to switch off too soon sometimes. Does it flash for an exact number of times before it switches off ?

I think its 20 seconds or 200 meters, whatever comes later. I think if you push it a few times or hold it it stays on without auto correct but i can be wrong.

The parameters are adjustable at your friendly neighbourhood BMW Dealer using the MOSS computer.By distance or time. Get it changed next time it's in for service or live with it. I've never read the owners manual so I don't know of another way.

The law in the states says you need to signal at least 200 feet before a turn. 200 meters seems a little far, like the block before you want to turn.

I thought mine didn't work because I almost always turn it off myself. Yesterday it went off on its own when I turned it on a long way before I turned off a highway.

BMW used this feature even on their car. I know that my mother's M3 is doing the same thing, or you have the option to tip it slightly so that is is flashing 3 times or 200 meters, or you can tip it like a "normal" car and it's holding until you turn or shut it yourself off. Always liked that for the "autobahn" it's "pratique"
