KTM recall on front wheels
My dealer phoned me today and asked me to check my frame number as he had been told via the KTM dealer net that there is a recall on some '02 and '03 front wheels. He was only talking to me about my '02 LC4 Adventure so I don't know if other LC4s or the 950 are included. I will try to find out more from him when I call him back with my frame number tomorrow. Could be that KTM have finally accepted that there is a spoke issue?

wait till loaded finds out...
![]() hopefully they will replace them with buchanans laced to excel rims and talon hubs ![]() after all they owe us for the inconvenience. ![]() might even have to throw in the same in a rear for our trouble and the mental anguish caused by the thought of a front rim failure... ![]() can I get an AMEN?!? ![]() maybe woody can get the contract to build them

Says he doesn't see anything. I'd be interested to know the frame numbers myself.

There was some front wheel failures on 2002/3 bikes ....also there was a KTM recall on the triple clamps on them.....Im guessing some big MFs were jumping canyons or flying off cliffs and landing front end first....with a full tank of gas (7+gals on the AdventureR)...........
So if your checking the front wheels....check out your lower triple tree too.......... And dont chase any parked cars....if you know what I mean. |

Planning that trip, again

I sure hope so. I put a dent in my front rim on my first ride. I complained to KTM Australia and was told something was in the wind. An excel would be great, but I doubt it.
I know of three 05 640 ADVs here in Oz with forked front rims. Must be dealer pressure. Mick

From the little bit I know about KTM's approach to TB's, it's very regional. For example, KTM UK (can't say for KTM Europe) has been pretty good at covering corrosion of 950 spokes, but the KTM NA hasn't acknowledged it, (Not that it's a big issue in the US.)
I'd guess there is a good chance tha KTM NA won't feel the need to address this either, especially if they aren't aware of the problem. The TB numbering system is even coded/number differently by region as far as I can tell.

I just got off the phone with the dealer, yes, it's happening. The new front rim is a new stronger rim, changed the annealing process apparently. A matter of getting my wheel out there for a few days to allow them to change things over.
Good stuff.
