I am beating it to death but removing cruise and reverse, not a good move. Probably the best additions on any motorcycle and especially on something over 800 lbs, reverse become a necessity. I had an 03 wing and hated the look of the trunk. All they needed to do was come up with a set up and have a removable trunk and all would have been good.

All good points. As long as I get that motor I'm not going to care!

Hope you're down at your Honda dealer buying one!!!

I really haven't found a need for the reverse on the Goldwing, but I've had sidecars without reverse and am used to thinking about where I park and how I'm gonna get out of there.

I bet the aftermarket has a clean cruise control for the F6 by the end of the year.

Our first ride on the 2013 Honda Gold Wing F6B covered a total of 151 miles of highway miles in addition to plenty of remote two-lane traffic through winding roads with numerous elevation changes. Honda sets mileage estimates at 34 mpg and before our stint with the F6B was done, we had about 1/8th of a tank left in the 6.6-gallon fuel cell.
34 is pretty shitty - and that's an EPA estimate; a heavy handed rider will undoubtedly get less. A 6th gear would help. I know it's got bottomless torque, but 5-speeds drive me nuts. I doubt I would have bought my 'Glide if it would have been a 5-speed.

I'm picking up my new F6B Deluxe this afternoon. I'll be on here later bitching about the gas mileage, lack of cruise, lack of reverse. Then I'll go for a ride and crash it since it doesn't have ABS.

I think I got a ok deal. OTD at the MSRP. Pics will be coming later.

What RPM is the big girl turning say at 80 mph in fifth gear cruising the slab? I had a 1500 wing back in the 90's and loved it but was always looking for another highway gear. Is the 1800 any better?

Congrats!

Obviously all the bitching is just the jealousy coming out - enjoy the ride!

Picked her up last night. And it hailed.

I waited for the hail to pass and rode home in a cold, wet, drizzly kind of rain. Hands were warm and the radio was nice. The bike really does not feel as big as it is. Very controllable.

3k at 70mph and 3.5k at 80.

I keep it at 72 mph, right about 3100 rpm and no tickets!!

I'm always looking for another gear on bikes without a gear counter, don't know the old 1500, but the 1800 has an OD icon when you're in fifth...keeps you from looking for sixth.

Just picked up the May issue of Cycle World which puts the F6B up against the HD CVO Road Glide. Has it been mentioned here yet?
If not, here's a quick observation.
Why did CW put a $21000 Honda up against a $34000 Harley?
The Honda came out on top of course, but I suppose they had to find a Harley that had enough power to keep up to the F6B, and the only one that could cost $13000 more.
Holy sheet, and people will still buy the Harley and turn their noses up at the Honda. Amazing.

Wannaklr - pics, man.

With no pics I feel I've been wronged. Wronged I tell you! This is just another example of corporate America holding me back. Or something.
