Gas milage w/Akrapovic

Just installed new complete Akrapovic exhaust on my 2007 gs and looks like gas milage went from 45 mpg to 33! I also pull out silencer and ride 80-85 mph for little while so I understand gas milage is lover but I read before taking out catalic conventor will help for better gas milage?

I have a full system on my 08 GSA and I get 40-43 depending. I am not light on the throttle.....

Did you remap? You really should

I have 8000 miles on my Akro and there is no difference in mpg from my stock system. I get 45- 50 mpg.

Good questions but I'm wondering why you think removing the catalytic converter would improve your gas mileage.

Those runs at 85 mph use a lot of additional fuel. If you run the same course on the same day you should get roughly the same mileage with either exhaust.

You mentioned removing the cat, did you leave the O2 sensors connected?

Cool2

here is an idea...

Put the old stock exhaust back on. Ride the hell out of the bike like you did with the after market unit. Check your milage. Do it again w/ the aftermarket, ride it the same way. Compare milage. Should be close in mpg. It is incredibly super easy to trash mpg's with spirited riding.

BTW, leave O2 sensor in operation. Unless you have the ability to monitor the exhaust with a gas analyzer
and a dyno-mometer and the technical ability to re-map etc.

...well those were my findings anyway.... back to your regular scheduled program.
