I think that the mountain trails in Tadjikistan and Kyrgyzstan and the wide open landscapes of Mongolia were my favourites. The other places were good too, but more civilized, and that's not what we are looking for when we go on a trip like that. The Pamirs in Tadjikistan are something very very special. Maybe my overall favourite.

Without going to Mongolia do you think that i can make it with my Varadero to the rest of the central Asia?
Hi Zandesiro,

I think you can do it without a problem, at least as long as there is not much rain. I think you could even do it on a street bike. One question is, can you lift your bike up if it falls, let's say in a low speed manoeuvre?

You can even do Mongolia on a Varadero. The Northern Route, which we took, is supposed to be a bit more 'difficult' than the Southern Route, but if it's dry, not really. There are some sandy passages, but not long.

The Polish guys I mentioned in the report were going faster than we did, apparently a bit too fast for one of them. So it really depends on your riding skills and style, and sure, less weight is more fun.

It could also help to team up for a certain time and feel safer this way.

My very personal view: If you get so close to Mongolia, it would be a pity to leave it out, provided that you have the time.

All the best and don't forget, there are a lot of people who want to read about your trip.

I almost always do. Noise is a big nuisance on a motorcycle. For me on the Transalp, no windshield is the best, but on a long trip I want to have some protection against the wind and cold.

eustachius,

Thank you so much for taking us on this wonderful road trip though I am a little late. I look forward to doing this route soon albeit starting from the Iranian side since it's closer to where I am right now. Once again, thanks!!
