XR650R Pig and the Sedona Tire Report

Gang, I have nothing to gain, other than to sing the praises of a great product and thought you would like the pics and report.

On Black Friday, just after Thanksgiving in 2011, Bike Bandit put some tires on sale.....that I just couldn't pass up. I got some 5.10x18's for my XR650R Baja Pig.....for $27.....and bought two of them. I now wish I would have purchased a dozen.

The first tire was put on the Pig, mid-summer of 2012 and I rode it. It did some single track, some pavement and some dirt road. Then I put it through the CAM 1000 http://www.rmariders.org/cam1000.html......yeah, 1000 miles of dirt in Colorado with a completely packed out bike. Then, my son took it for the fall and rode the heck out of it in the Gunnison, Colorado area.

We figured the tire has over 2,000 miles of abuse, and I was very heavy on the throttle.

I just mounted a new one, as I am headed to Moab this week.

By the way, this tire is supposed to be a dual compound, with the center lug a really hard compound. I believe it.

I am about to order two more.

I think the tire sells for about $48 bucks now, a complete bargain compared to $90-$110 tires. Warning....it is a 4 ply sidewall and a bitch to mount....but in 2000 miles, I didn't get a single flat. Armor-All is your friend with this tire......

awesome, glad to hear about your tire success!! how do you think that it compares to the Dunlop 606 that i would guess the majority are running??

are you running any type of pannier racks with the Wolfman expedition (or rolie) bags?

I'm guessing it's this one Sedona MX887IT ?

Is that thing noisy on pavement? What's it's pavement manners like? Any concern with running non-Dot in CO?

Yes the 887. Sure, it hums a little, but I strive for 70%+ dirt on this thing. It is not a dual sport tire and it is not DOT rated.

Also, I am running the Sedona in the front. It is fantastic in the dirt, sand, etc.....and decent on the pavement up to 60 mph. Very happy with it. The front appears to last through two rears.

As for the Wolfman bags....the best ever! After watching how they pack, I have had four riding friends ditch their solutions and buy Wolfman.
