It was the sight of all that wiring hanging out of the bucket.
Gotta be strong to take that sort of thing.

What's wrong with the original throttle grip friction screw? When I got back into BMWs with my oilhead, I just could not believe BMW had eliminated that feature. When I got my lastest airhead, one of the first fixes I made was to replace the missing friction screw, so darn simple.

Mine works perfectly (for me),so did the one on my RS. When cruising it stays put with just the slightest contact of my hand on the grip; break contact it starts to slowly roll off; when adding throttle I dont even feel the extra friction. Another 1/8 turn it stays if I want to "lock" the throttle, like for warming up or tuning, more often than not I just leave it at this setting, still cant feel the difference. I need some drag on the throttle, I cant "grip" the the bars too long, given mild carpal tunnel. Also never did like moving my hands off the grip while crusing (I understand yours is just a lock), for friction devices like the Kaoko or Throttlemeister, even the old Vista cruise control or the old O-ring trick is better for me.

I think you'll find the 'cam chain parts' thread interesting.
The discussion was polite, and shed a lot of light on the tensioner operation.
