Something like this?

Or would this be more appropriate?

I like both!

For reference, this is Kent sitting on my FZ6:

I ordered some new pegs for the front, since the right side had a mismatched peg.

They are for a Yamaha R bike, but the mounting part looks identical.

I would pull the plugs and put some oil in the cylinders if you have not already turned it over. Check the oil, if it looks like black paint, I'd change it. Otherwise ride it a few miles first.

I currently have 6 bikes running, registered, insured, and ridden. I have had as many as 11.

I did turn it over a few days ago when I hooked up a battery. I guess I got lucky, since I didn't pour any oil or WD40 into the cylinder.

Holy cow, that's a lot of bikes to plate. I mean, I definitely subscribe to the "a different tool for a different job" theory...but man.

Today is my day off and I'm supposed to be working on a project for a class, but I took a break to try out the exhaust wrap that came in the mail yesterday.

Worked out pretty well. I just have zip ties holding it on right now. I haven't decided if I want to use the stainless zip ties or just use a stainless hose clamp. Any suggestions for something that would look a little cleaner?

I haven't heard back on the carbs yet, they must have really needed quite a soak. The z-bars should be here tomorrow.

I soaked the fuel pump in kerosene for a little bit and let it dry the last couple days. I am planning on picking up a battery tomorrow, so I'm ready to fire it up when the carbs are done.

Still need to check/adjust the valves, not looking forward to it since the only guide I found was text. I like pictures...

I bought and hooked up a battery today. The Z's came in:

They make me want to listen to this for some reason:

and the new pegs:

I just need those carbs and I think I'll have a running bike!

Looking better all the time. I hope you don't decide to do an "earshave" on it, if the air filters are in those chrome pods. This is something commonly done to Vulcan 750s. Both air filter housings and the entire airbox are removed, and pod filters are attached directly to the carbs. This dramatically increases airflow, but the carbs can be rejetted to compensate for that. The problem is that it also drastically increases dirt flow as well. Dust goes right through the wire mesh filters, while nothing gets through the oiled foam stock air filters. You can shorten the engines lifespan by more than half by doing that. Most everybody does it anyway.

The metal bands will look much cleaner than hose clamps, and will hold the wrap better. Don't forget to soak it in water before the final install or the wrap won't be tight enough.
