American light bulb designations for 990.

Hi. I've got a 2012 990 Adventure R. I want to replace the tail light, brake light, and turn signal lights with direct replacement LED bulbs. I've been browsing Super Bright LED's for bulbs but I don't know what to order. In the manual it says "W5W" for tail light, "RY10W" for turn signals, and "P21W" for brake light. I can't find those bulbs anywhere. Are they European designations? If so, what are the American bulb designations for these? Thanks!

From manual:

It says socket type behind that is what you need to match first part is the strength of the bulb, 5W, 21W etc try to get a LED that matches or higher if you want to go brighter.

Going for led bulbs in the indicators might require a different relay or a resistor to go with each bulb.

EDIT: looked at it better and seems to be 2 different socket listings but the part behind the / seems to match fine with what listed on the site you linked to.

Turn signal bulb

On my 08 these are the 'right' turn signal bulbs

BAU15S-x18-T: 18HP-LED 7507 (PY21W) LED Tower bulb

They are super bright compare the the stock.

But I've gone overboard

I'm tired of people not seeming to see my turn or brake signals. I want to order some of these but don't know what color to order. Are you guys getting the White LED options and relying on the color of the lens cover to determine the light that is emitted?

Is it just a plug and play operation, no inline resistors needed?

Anyone use these for the brake light? Which model did you use?

Putting a white led inside red behind red or amber plastic is inefficient. Most of the light will get reflected back and just the yellow or red part of the spectrum makes it through. Get a red or amber LED for better results.

Katoom comes with two tinny running LEDs in the tail light. But the main running/break light is old school.

I replaced mine with a red LED. I tried a couple. There is actually lots of room. you want something that projects light on the reflector around the bulb. This makes the whole housing light up. Some LED bulbs don't do that due to their shape and you will end up with a red dot. There is actually lots of room in side the housing. I ended up with a big one.
