Wodonga to Dargo

Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone has done a run from Wodonga over to Dargo on dirt (or as little black top as possible!)

Just trying to get a few mates to get their shit together do a ride. Me on a 690R, a Husky 511, KTM 525, KTM 350 and a KTM 450. Oh and maybe a DR? or 2?

Would anyone have a google map track they've used or something? I'm puting together some trails but as I haven't done the trip before I thought there may be a good and a bad way? May be some bits not to be missed on the way?

Planning on leaving once the weather cools off a bit (another 6 weeks or so ....... hopefully...it cools off ) Be an over-nighter. Camp and come back the next day.

Thanks for any input.

Cheers,
Wes

The Dargo high plains Rd is closed. http://alerts.vicroads.vic.gov.au/gippsland Also check with DSE about other track closures once you have decided on a route because of fires. Good luck with the planning.

Done a bit of riding around the area, what you need is the Hema (I think it's Hema) map of the high country area. It has just about every track named, with accurate distances. It comes good from Yack, and I'm just about certain it covers Dargo too.

If you can't find it (got mine from Myrtleford Visitors Info for about $10 a few months ago), let me know and I'll track it down and send you a pic. Worth its weight in gold (and waterproof)!

Prolly borrow it off me if you're real tight and look after it? I'm near Wodonga - PM me if interested...

Start at Tallangatta Lookout..to Lockharts Gap..follow Eskdale Spur Tk to Mt Beauty..take Simmonds Tk..Dungey Tk ..Stony Ck Tk to Bright...Bitty to Porepunkah...up the Buckland Valley to Selwyn Ck Tk...to Tea Tree Range Tk..to Racecourse Tk cross the Wongungurra R. into Talbotville..follow the Crooked R. upstream..23 crossings...shoot up Bulltown Spur Tk to McMillan Rd... folow it past Grant and onto the Dargo High Plains Rd and into Dargo.
Thats enough dirt for anybody...but there are more challenging tracks tho.

If you have Motorbikin 5 video, the tracks from Porepunkah to Dargo feature in the " High Country DR's " bit....that's the route I have given you. Start at Porepunkah...you wont do it in a day if you do Tallangatta Eskdale Simmonds Ck Stony Ck etc...Dargo store sells those maps too..about $10 .00

Spatial Vision also do a good map of the north east area covering the border from about Wulgulmerang, west to Corryong etc and south to Dargo.
Not in as fine a detail as the Rooftops series, but has plenty of detail still.

Struck out there Keefy. Might try online?
Was in Corryong today but they didn't have anything as far south as Dargo/Hotham etc.

Thumb Lets ride

Hey mate, glad to see you're including a dr or 2. My shits together so hope you intend to include me & maybe a couple more on a 450 & 600. Seems like my proposal to ride to Jindy might not happen & may need to reduce to an overnighter. Dargo seems more likely. Going to try find a suitable map today & plot a route. Will forward new info when i get it.

Cheers ian
