So what have you done to your 950/990? Mods?

I started thinking about all the mods (I think Farkles sounds like something you buy at a craft store) I've done to my 05 950Adv.
Just curious what you guys have done and what your favorite modification is?

My list
Renazco seat
CJ designs peg extensions
CJ axle blocks
CJ sidestand relocation
CJ oil drain hose
CJ clear clutch cover
CJ carbon fiber exhaust shield
Hyde Racing windshield
Euro headlight and switch
Rox risers
CJ cover plate for riser
Remote dash control
2-1 SE exhaust collector (shorter than the Adv version)
Remus Ti exhaust can
Kaoko throttle lock
KTM Heated grips
Safari Tanks
Rottweiler air filter assembly w/prefilter and jet kit
Billet mirrors
SAS Block off plates
09 glovebox ( it's bigger )
HID headlight (from a BMW 3series car)
Extreme Dual Sport LED turn Signals
High fender conversion (not a kit)
Black dog cycle works Bash plate
Beans modded fuel pump (Thanks Zeegman)
And WAY Too much oil and filters.

Favorite mod would be the combo of seat, risers, and peg extensions.

Like everyone else, I have done a ton of "personalizing" to my 990 but I have found that the best and biggest positive mod was the addition of the Rottweiler intake system. I have never done anything to any bike that made such a difference in how it runs. Second would be suspension with a close 3rd being the addition of a Neduro auxillary gas tank. The rest are more eye candy than anything else.

Lots of eye candy on mine. Some of it serves a dual purpose though. The CJ clear clutch cover is a prime example of that.

Ok me too...my 11'R
(this bike by far takes the cake over any bike or thing I've owned with accessories done)

-twin Akra exhaust(uncorked on the street, pure awesomeness)

-CJ skid plate
-CJ oil drain hose
-CJ foot pegs
-CJ/Moto Missile oil filter cover w/magnet

-Powercell 277 suspension kit w/air bleeders(Ohlins in frt, shock body in rear)
-Spiegler custom front brake line/s
-Touratech sidestand foot(RTV siliconed for no movement, 3yrs & counting)
-chopped stock windscreen
-HDB handguards w/mirrors
-KTM SE frame protectors
-KTM heated grips
-foam grip covers(great cheap mod)
-Shock Sox covers on the forks(great cheap mod)

favorite item is a toss up...
between airbox & suspension

mods removed
-SW motech skidplate
-GOBI boxes

What are you feeling on the rear side tank, going to go that route on my 06 950 this winter?

So there is enough slack for 3.25 inches with the throttle housing flipped ? I have the 1.75 inch Rox on mine already with the throttle flipped...but an extra inch or so would be cool...

I've had this tank a long time and with adding a self made lower bracket to secure the rear mount to the passenger peg it eliminates the rear of the tank bowing into the path of the swingarm.

I've not developed any cracks nor show any wear and it looks like it could last another 5 or so years. It's 2.3 gal. which works out perfect in addition range. Anything less in just not effective IMHO.

You'll want to add a quick disconnect and one way valve.

Modifications that work for me

I have a 2012 Adventure that I just got back from on my second bucket list trip. First one was 2 years ago to Madrid,NM,rode with my buddies dirt and road through NM and SW CO and home to Cincinnati Ohio. Did the same thing this year but extended it up through Rocky Mountain Ntl. Park,Black Hills, Badlands and home from SD. #1 most important mod was the CJ side stand relocator. Protects cases, and it provides me with the only way to mount and dismount like a horse. It has proved to be very strong and stable.I'm 66 yrs old have 2 bad, knees, hip and shoulder (all from years of dirt riding and racing)I've shrunk to 5'10"with short legs.Riding dirt and street is fine(within reason!) but with Happy Trails boxes(highly recommended!)I look like the proverbial monkey abusing a football.Sheer terror getting on and off at gas stops,on trail, etc. We rode in rocky terrain,no damage at all to rims and the Weld 86 skid plate only has a few scratches, maybe stock OK??Swivel pegs with CJ extenders work well and are comfy, better control standing.I have a Cee Bailey windscreen(shorter version),excellent protection on road from wind and rain but must stand in dirt to accurately see ahead.Motor all stock, stock pipes, but have K&N filter and UNI pre filter.Worked perfectly!Bar risers, set backs help, put on Motion Pro extended throttle cables(much better quality) Throttle tamer twist grip really helps!! Much less scary in lo speed maneuvers,no real difference faster.Did all above without having to have throttle position sensor adjusted, was prepared to but it worked perfectly. Both trips were mechanically perfect,no issues.cruises comfortably at 70-80 without any strain, easily blasts up over 100. Dances in the dirt pretty well for a fat girl(or boy!) rode with 2 good dirt riders,on 650 DR and KTM LC4 and was never far behind.Stock seat has been fine for me both trips.Really can't think of another bike that can do it all pretty darned well.Stock Scorpions were mostly worn out after 1st trip,Put Heidenau's on for this one, better grip in dirt,no issues at high speed(maybe the failed ones had damage done on bead on mounting rear,VERY difficult to mount, almost gave up)
'and they look almost new after 3500 mi!Hope I helped and not too wordy!

In order of importance-ish:

- Konflict Suspension Valving, Springs and stretched to 245mm travel front and rear
- Blackdog Skidplate
- Cycra Hand Guards
- 45 tooth rear sprocket
- Moose Short Windscreen
- Rox Risers
- Short clutch lever (stock lever + hacksaw = $avings!)
- KTM Throttle Cam System
- Stickers
- MOD Top Plate
- Mosko Backcountry Duffel
- Akrapovic Pipes
- SAS Removal and Cannisterectomy
- Doubletake Mirror
- Wolfman Racks & Expedition Dry Saddle Bags

Not really a mod but a change that helped the bike lots:
- Pirelli MT21 Front and Dunlop 908rr Rear tires

I have a wackload of other stuff, but it's sitting in a box and contributes nothing to the bike.

(old tires in picture)
