Davo, are you suggesting this should be in Vendors or somewhere else?

I want Mel to do what she wants, go girl.

My view

It's a precedent.

If it is training with payment attached, then it should be vendors.

If it is a recognised charity (ie charitable tax status, helps a whole lot of people, QLd floods etc) then I am OK with it being here.

It seems a mix.

Do we want a whole lot of I want to race this race, give me some cash type of request here? I want money to ride here threads that soley benefit an individual.

Should I start a Give me money so I can go to the OCR, I'm cute and I will take lots of photos thread?

edit typo.

If it's a business activity then there's all kinds of red tape and insurance considerations bla bla bla..

As a newbie to the awesome community that Strummer has been so graciously and selflessly cultivating through the giving of his time, I'm more than happy to give something to the group in support by way of my money.

The ride is really just about showing our support for each other.
If any man or woman doesn't want to give of their money (whether they be able to or not), they will surely receive the same benefit of this event as anyone who decides to give some moolah.

It's not a charity nor is it a service in exchange for some kind of benefit, Strummer is giving of his time for free as always

I'll wander on back to the peanut gallery now

Davorallyfan.

For a couple of years now, you have taken some pleasure in dropping in on threads that I have started, and for some reason, trying to ridicule me, the idea of Snail Trails, and the idea of helping people in general.

I know that for some reason you have a problem with me. And that's fine, I can take it (even though it mystifies me).

But why would you deliberately try to sabotage my efforts to help Melissa achieve her dream? It comes across as mean spirited, nasty and selfish. Which I'm sure your friends would say you are not!

Here is a girl, who a few years ago was not expected to walk properly, let alone ride a dirt bike. And after years of determination and hard work, she is at the point where she is preparing to mount her biggest personal challenge yet.
To ride the Finke.
If I had the money, I would fund her entire campaign from my own pocket. Because I believe so much in her spirit to bounce back from the shitty hand that fate dealt her, in the form of a drunk driver.

Davo, if you met Mel, you would see the strength, determination and courage that has inspired all of us who ride with her.
You would see a girl who doesn't 'do pretty', who does not play on the 'I'm cute' card, even though she is very attractive.
She just wants to be treated like every other guy on the ride, and has NEVER complained about her injuries or asked for special treatment.

This thread was entirely my idea. Mel did not know about it until I sent her the link.
So by all means, if you disagree with me, send me a private message detailing your beef.

But for now, you have had your say, as is your right on a public forum.

Now please, leave us to support our friend as we see fit. Be it with companionship, help with preparing, or with a few dollars from our pockets.

Mel is no angel. But who among us is?

Dude, I have nothing against you or your venture.

It's just the appropriateness of placing this type of thread here - that is all.

I'll try and make this one.
I might even try and actually ride this one.
God knows I need to get some skills.

Really? Why even bother bringing it up other than to create a stir. Not really needed I'd say.

Maybe you could teach me how the f*** you managed to do all the trails on the DL1000?

Now THAT would be a skill I could use (if I ever buy another GS1200 that is).

Take your pick. The ATWS-06S might be best for your purpose.
