I registered this afternoon and got a number in the eighties, a mate just sent me a txt saying he's just over the 120's....

How many riders do they take?

This will be my first Safari, ........ Looking forward to a high country tour with a few mates.

Registered today, did the TS in Tassie a few years back, loved it. I managed to be #16 on the registration list! Anyone else coming from the ACT?

in 2011 there was just over 200. 2012 it seems like they aim for a lower number, not sure why I'm thinking 170.
But it looks like this this year they might get the number real quick, if your mate got 120, and I got in the 130's at 6:30...

It seems like a few people who havent been before and little offroad experience are going this year (guess it's the same every year).
Might be an idea for some easy day rides.
I'm waiting on some karoo 3's to check out, so it'd be a good excuse for me :)

If a grand now was only worth $500 last year! :)
It was $495 last year.

This is from 2012... hopefully the details won't be too much different this year. Obviously the pricing will come out closer to the dates....

This year the safari is $625

I see we get a t-shirt, but can't see anything else. Maybe it's all up on facebook or something :)
Edit: I see it now.... this is what you get:

Sorry, didn't check the parks web site, just know from historical local knowledge of the last many years that the tracks open in October, and yep, you are right, tracks don't open till Movember.

So what does it mean for the safari if the tracks are shut? Of course not all tracks are shut but the important main routes are the ones that are locked up for the winter.

Yeah.. I have the same question.... this is going to be interesting... I hope no one is thinking we'll need universal gate key!

Just going to wait and see :)
