Talking Attempting..

Alright . Screw it. I'm attempting it this Saturday-Sunday. 5/18-5/19

Why not, it'll be a good time to load up my bike with my gear and make sure it all goes well for my upcoming ride to Cali.

I'll be doing te saddle 1000 in 24 hrs. Starting in. Anch clockwise to FB,DJ,TOK,GLENALEN,VALDEZ& back to ANCH.

Starting time will be around 9pm on Saturday due to work. And hopefully finish by Sunday late evening.
I been eyeing the weather up north & as long it doesn't snow, I'm cool.

Thanks.

Hey I got me some of those hand mittens, so far they install right, but haven't actually rode with it.

Will be using them for this trip.

Great, I'll watch this one. I think the Park will still be a giant block of ice, dress warm.
My run towards the end of June will also be a shake out run for my August trip to the lower 48.

Skip Tok, if you're going to Valdez. Here's what you need to know:

Anchorage to Fairbanks via the Parks Hwy, Delta Jct. to Paxson and Glennallen, Valdez, back to Glennallen, Anchorage on the Glenn Hwy. That will give you your miles.

Get the IBA rules. You need a witness to check you in and out of Anchorage. The rest of the way you can rely on gas receipts so long as the time/date is printed. Get a cup of coffee in Valdez to show you went there to back up the gas receipt.

The weather is definitely weird this year. I would normally say May is better than July, but this year you're on your own on that one. I'm looking at heading to Homer this weekend but I'm watching conditions.

ADVMB, the reason I choose Tok instead of heading down from DJ to Paxton, cause it may snow, it the weather looks good on that day, then I'll do the route you suggest .

..

well the bike is ready!!!

Nutty,

You'd better hope the weather up this way improves a whole lot. Winter won't let go. 4 inches of "global warming" along the highways around here this morning, and it snowed most of the day.

Alcan Rider is in Glennallen. I haven't found the stretch from Delta-Paxson-Glennallen to be a problem in shoulder seasons but if it's shitty in Glennallen, I'd worry about getting on the Glenn into Wasilla. I've run into tough conditions about 50 miles east of Wasilla where the Talkeetna Mountains meet the Chugach. And that's if it's good in Glennallen. I hate to say it, but you might want to wait a week or two.

Due to the snow scare we had, I postpone the run.
But will be attempting it this Wednesday(29th)

Anyone is more than welcome to join. Planning to the maybe around 4 or 5 am Wednesday morning. Route is still the clockwise of up Fairbanks and toward Valdez and back anch.

So far I have one buddy who is going to tag along (zx-10 ). Hopefully we will brh be able to tackle this down.
