Does anyone else think the muffler is ugly? I guess Yamaha didn't put too much work into it knowing most want to change to aftermarket. People aren't happy these days unless they can swap an exhaust. Not sure why this is...

The first Bolt megathread was derailed by a lot of political b.s. and has been punted to the JM: CSM forum.

Let's keep this thread for inmates who are interested in this bike.. If you have nothing positive to contribute, move on. Mocking douchebaggery and needless dickery will earn you a vacation. If in doubt, read the posted rules.

I'm not crazy about the can. The upper pipes aren't too bad.
They did an interesting treatment with this customized model at the release par-tay.

This pic also shows some of the Star accessories, like the brass swingarm cap, machined pegs, and finned engine cover.

Bolt muffler

I think the muffler looks good. Not a large torpedo, and it doesn't stick out past the back of the rear tire like some cruisers.

You can see some good close up angles in this video. They even have a mannequin wearing the required Bolt uniform.

I generally like the brass, but I'd prefer it less shiny, especially for the speedo hood. Can you tell if it is coated with anything?

Nah. I can't tell.
The way brass weathers, I bet if uncoated it would get a patina pretty quickly.

I see an ME880 in that pic!! Transformed my 950 V-Star.

Yamaha has always done bikes with 'gold' accents, I don't get it? Throw back to the 50's Chevy's I suppose?

Standard Bolt should be in showrooms next week-ish. Call your dealer to see if they're getting one and when.
R-spec (below) should be on floors in July.

I guess.
The 883 sportster is 553 (1200 is likely very close to that) and the new Bonneville is 495 pounds, all over weight if you ask me.

I'm not real crazy about the stock muffler either, but it's better than what they did to the Warrior. I guess noise and pollution requirements of various governments dictate the size of the muffler to a certain extent. A big muffler means better breathing and less noise, so everybody's happy except the people who care about how it looks.
