sure looks like a cruiser to me. Stepped seat and buckhorn handlebars - this is how the Japanese made cruisers about a hundred years ago.

Funny thing is, people turned their noses up at them because they weren't V-Twins - now they turn their noses up at Japanese cruisers because "they are copying Harley".

Yup. Just a thin lil' wire. Won't do much to keep the heat off.

You'll pardon us if we each decide what we like, of course.

That my friend is NOT an 1100 Special, that is a Midnight Special...very different bike and very much a cruiser.

ok, well this one clearly says XS Eleven Special on the side cover, and it still looks like a cruiser to me

this one, on the other hand, says "XS Eleven" on the side cover - not a special. This is a standard. Different forks, headlight, handlebars, gas tank, seat, and exhaust

i am curious . what do the guys at yamaha who make the bolt call their bike ? a cruiser ? is there a jap word for cruiser or standard etc ? to me the bolt is just a midsized vtwin bike . whether or not it is called a cruiser does not really compute . i ride an old triumph bonneville and i have never really thought of the bonneville as a cruiser . the bolt looks like a japanese bonneville to me .

I would call the Bolt a cruiser, or more specifically, a bobber - which is a subset of the cruiser genre.

the Bonneville is a standard. Just my opinion of course, I don't get to make the rules..

I think it's best to counter-steer away from the labels.
We live in a fun time with great bikes. Let the people who don't ride do all the navel gazing.

the Kawasaki LTD 1000's were as common as rabbits in the summers of the late 70's. K&N's and Kerkers and away you went.
