Hey dude. Loving the pictures. I just rode the Pamir Highway and it was AMAZING. You can get a Tajik visa in Bishkek. It takes about 1 hour and $75. Kyrgyzstan no visa is needed. Uzbekistan is nothing special. Just shitty gas, desert, bureaucracy and police checkpoints.

So yeah, I wouldn't miss Tajik if I were you. One of the passes goes up to 4666 meters.. about 15k feet. Its like a different planet.

Wise idea to skip the BAM ...

Am a bit worried about how you are going to cross Mongolia.

Nice pics. I gotta meet this guy in Svobodny next time I pass through.

Hey, things are kind of quiet around here since the pic with snow on the Scram. Did you get snowed in or something?

Well last report he was in Mongolia, in UB contemplating riding across the country to the Altai, and as I mentioned above, Mongolia is going to be hard work for an off road novice. It would probably take him 10 -14 days to cross the country and get to the Russian Altai.

He should pop up in the next few days.

He's in Kazakhstan. I follow him on Facebook, and he's been sending short updates there. Not sure why not posting to ADVrider. Guessing he's having trouble getting good internet access. When I lived in Mongolia, it was hard to find reliable connections that you'd actually want to use for more than just sending out a quick email or two. Kazakhstan is probably on par with Mongolia in terms of development.

Any trick to finding that Facebook page? I can't seem to locate it. Could be the POS iPhone app causing my problem. I need a fix!

Might work if instead of the app, you use a browser and type facebook.com/EllioCo ?
