I'm thinking about riding Sunday - either do Rouse Ridge again (lots of stuff for me to work on) or just go check out roads (I highlighted a bunch of roads on my Cleveland National Forest map at lunch).....

Anybody?

Bishop- Coyote Canyon, Noob friendly

Just got back from a three day ride in Bishop-up through Coyote Canyon. Great Noob ride with a difficult alt route for advanced riders. Rode up to 10500 feet and stopped to do some fishing along the trails. Caught four natural rainbow trout, (backpacking pole stuffed in my pack). Did a loop on Saturday up to Crowley lake and upper Owens river too. This route is also Noob friendly with easy outs to pavement and gas/food/beer. Empty trails and fantastic scenery- for any Noob interested in making the trip. Did 350 miles in three days with 300 in the dirt. I'll post pics later this week with routes and maps.

I'm planning a return trip out of Bishop again in a few weeks if any are interested to join up with me. I'm in Santa Clarita. Truck bikes to Lone Pine or Bishop and leave vehicle there and ride to different stops each night to complete a loop. 100-150 miles per day depending on ability, and fishing stops, if you we're inclined.

Cheers, Jerry

I might be interested in "checking out roads" on Sunday. Flying into San Diego Saturday after a long work trip, picking up my bike that I left with a friend there and then going home to Big Bear Sunday - and it looks like this area is right along the way! I've been riding quite a few years, and also rode dirt bikes so long ago that I think it was in a previous life, and have been venturing past the pavement a bit again - but on an 1150GS. Hence I feel like an ultra-noob again when i try to navigate that behemoth on dirt roads. It's so massive that I think it has it's own gravitational field and therefore often falls over to take a nap. So if these roads are like something you could beat up an old car on and not get stuck, I think I can handle that, but if it's something you need a 4x4 for then its probably beyond what I can do on that bike now.

My weekend is locked up solid....so I'll have to wait for the June 1 ride. Stay safe if you go out. Hope for more trips in the near term.

PM me a time you're thinking for Sunday. I might be able to swing it.

Well, if I can make it, I'll be riding from Silverado into Corona via Bedford Canyon.

Bumping for the ride this Saturday. Again, departing from the Maple Springs gate at 8:30AM. We'll be meeting the guys coming from the South at Santiago Peak. It is going to be hot out, so PACK WATER and if your bike is air cooled- do an oil change. This ride isn't going to be some crazy drag race, if people want to stop and take pictures- I'm all for it. I'll have my GoPro on, so crash in front of me if you don't want it documented.
Confirmed for OC side:

1. BrokenDownXR- XR600
2. BurnOil- Super Tenere
3. ?
4. ?
5. ?

I am a little under the weather this week, but I'm in and riding for sure. Pretty easy ride for all skill levels so if you want to go...let's go!

We talked about it tonight, we'll head up at 830 and wait around at Santiago Peak for everyone else. If you want to cruise up later, we'll be there
