Dang Chis, I forgot all about this.

It sure didn't feel like a Monday around here.

Just because it's not a workday, doesn't we stop slackin'! Headed to Rocket to Venus here shortly.

Bill-good seeing you again and it was nice meeting Betsy. It's not very often I get to meet another classical archaeologist. In fact, I think she's the first outside of grad school.

By the way, we passed that market in Ellicott City that you were talking about. While we were at the stop light, I think our conversation went something like this:

Mike: "There's that market Bill was talking about."

Me: "The one with all the spicy stuff on the wall?"

Mike: "Yeah, the one he wants to have sex with."

Good times!

Stick your dinger in a jar of thai chili mayonnaise and you'll never be the same!

I freakin' love hearing that 73 bimmer fire. It sounds like a sewing machine on xanax. So soothing.

NEXT RTE IS MONDAY, OCTOBER 7.

It's fall, I propose we go to the mountains, look at leaves & kick the doors of tourist cars. Thurmont? Frederick? Hagerstown? Cumberland?

My wife and me are/were Archaeologists. We met in field school. Oddly enough, Classical never appealed to us... Proly because of our location, we were more interested in new world pre history. And Egypt.
we didn't get very far beyond the BS... did some local PA and GA contract work..... mostly digging in front of road projects....boring with a capital B. Living in roach motels 4 nights a week was only bearable because we were together.

Nice, Jax! We have something (sort of) in common. My wife is also an archaeologist and did the New World stuff. Now she's more into artifact conservation. I chose the underwater route, spending time in Cyprus, Turkey, and Egypt. Got to touch some really cool stuff underwater...stuff no one's touched in over 2,000 years.

Like you, I eventually worked for a CRM firm in North Carolina doing the underwater stuff here in the U.S. I figured out I could do the same sort of underwater work as a "surveyor" instead of an "archaeologist" and get paid way more. I still get grants to do my own archaeological stuff. In fact, I just did two archaeological projects. I got a trip to France about a month ago to look for D-Day wrecks-really badass. Last weekend I was in the James River in Virginia looking at a bunch of wrecks there. It's still where my passion lies, but it no longer pays the bills.

Hopefully we'll meet at some point.

"Sure! Do you have a preference for days or times?"
"Any day of the week after 3pm."

Also gotta figure out what to do for winter. I'm thinking, in-town pizza & lie-swapping sessions.

You could just meet us there... It wouldn't be as much fun

Anyone can just meet us, you don't have to start out with us. If you don't think the 4:00 meeting time is doable or if you are already near our destination.
