I apologize for my earlier ignorance. I just learned how much more dangerous green lasers are than the old fashioned red laser pointers. I take it back that it wasn't that serious. BTW Natch did you make it to Washougal after all? I know in the beginning of the thread you had it on your wish list.

I went to Washougal this weekend and experienced my first Motocross event.

What. A. Hoot! I'll definitely going to more of them.

I took some pics and learned one thing... taking pics from behind the rider is NOT the best position.

Those dirt clods hurt!

@PulpmxShow: Breaking news: Per Motoconcepts team owner, Mike Genova, they will not be racing the rest of this MX season.

That makes sense, they are now pariahs in the paddock. I wonder if they will come back next year, and I wonder if this is the end of Mike on a top flight team?

I always thought Tony A would cause his own downfall, but it will be at the hands of Jeff A. Of course threatening D coombes didn't help.

It depends on the wattage. The small spotting green lasers we use at work are relatively safe, but the lasers that people use to shine at aircraft are very dangerous, and if that had been the laser that Jeff A had been using, it could have caused at a minimum temporary vision loss. Judging by the size of the laser in the images, it wasn't that high powered veriety.

Also at that distance it wouldn't have had much power. The laser losses power as the inverse function of the distance, so every time you double the distance you lose 75% of the power, plus with those cheap lasers the beam is getting quite diffused at longer distances.

Still it's one of the most stupid things I could concieve anybody doing at such an (or) event.

In this age of everyone having a cell phone with a camera in it, GoPros everywhere and security cameras in most places, plus a well attended event with eye witnesses everywhere, how did they think they could get away with this!?

The stupidity of people never, NEVER ceases to amaze me.
