2013 Versys - any changes since 2008

Hey all,

I had a 2008 Versys a few years back and it was a fun bike. Only problem was I could never get the seating comfort sorted out (even using a Corbin seat).

Has there been changes since 2008 in the seating comfort dept?

Thanks
Chuk

Seat

I have a 2008 Versys, I have a Baldwin seat and it is a lot better than stock, BUT I now have a Terry Adcox seat and it is a LOT better. Terry asks about your weight and height and riding style and offers 3 ? different models.
I just googled Terry Adcox seats and there is info there. Some don't like his seats but most do. I have had a Russel day Long on a different bike and it is the best seat for any bike BUT they are very expensive $650 ?

Cb questions ?

I just checked your profile. I may be coming to NW Ill ( Byron/Rockford) the 3rd week in my for a graduation. How's the riding up there as I plan on bring my bike ? C.

Hey CB,

If you make it over to Galena (about an hour from Rockford), the roads in the area are great. Take Blackjack Road from Galena to the Palisades, it's our own version of the dragon.

Galena

I grew up outside Chicago ( maywood) and my parents spent every weekend at Blanding's Landing ( fishing?) in the 60-70's. My Dad would take me deer hurting and we always stayed in Hanover ? Went back there in 2011 when I visited family. also had a chance to visit Galena. To me things really hadn't change except the place has upscaled a lot. Very nice resturants.
If I go North next month I will let you know.

CB,

Hanover is right on Blackjack between Galena and the Palisades. There are a number of other great motorcycle roads around Galena. In fact, the town is a bit of a Mecca for motorcyclists on the weekends.

Guess I'll wander into a dealer today and sit on a 2013 Versys and see what changes have been made.

peace,
Chuk

changes

From what the forum says the only changes are rubber mounts on the engine, headlight and some plastic.
You can get first generation models for around $3500 with very low miles.

As CB says, no changes basically to the seat.

Had my 2011 seat 're done' by Spencer in Florida.

He did the 'long distance mod' front and back and changed the angle so there was no sliding into the tank. I've been very happy with it, without the mods my lower back would hurt and just couldn't do much distance at all.

Cheers

Seat

NO changes to the seat as far as I know. You would think the Kaw. would have done SOMETHING about that seat in 7 years.. I have been riding for 45 years and have had many aftermarket seat but that seat stock is the worst I have ever used.

THERE might be other changes in the new model but I have spent some much money making this bike for ME I really have't looked at new ones.

I also have back problems as that is one of my disabilities and my Adcox seat is like a big bucket for my big fat ass..........

The Versys had a makeover in 2010. I'm not sure if it was just cosmetic, or if there were other changes as well. There is a Versys thread in Beasts, those boys will know.
