R1200R Questions

Would someone mind posting some pics with the tall touring seat? Feedback on comfort / ergonomics for a 6’2” rider and 5’8” passenger with BMW bags attached. Touring for 500 + miles per day. How strong is the headlight for night riding to say a 650 Vstrom. Other general comments. Thanks.

Don't have any pics handy, but I'm 6'4" and am comfortable with the BMW high comfort seat. Ergonomically its a pretty relaxed and comfortable bike.

Take a test ride and bring your wallet ;)

Can't say about the seat, I am only 5'8".

However, you will need more lighting. There are light bars for your bike and you can add all the lighting you could ever want. The alternator on that bike is at 720 watts, or 600 watts, depending on the year. Plenty either way.

I had the tall "standard" seat on mine. Also tried the regular-height standard and the newer "comfort" seat in regular height. The tall seat is essential, IMO. I'm 5'11" with long-ish legs and the bike fit me a lot better with that extra bit of leg room.

Thanks for the feedback guys. During last year’s BMW demo ride they only had the low seat for the 1200R, which was almost impossible to for someone 6”2” to get remotely comfortable on so I passed and rode an RT & GS, instead. My current stable includes an 1150GS, which is no longer enjoyable with my lower back problems.

This is mine...not sure if this is a touring or standard seat. I'm 6' 2" with 32" inseam and while I find it roomy enough it could be little more comfy so I will have the seat redone and will have them add half to an inch more foam to it at that time.
I pretty much find the ergonomics perfect on this bike but we are all different and what works for me may not for someone else.

Just want to add that I did try a bike with a low seat at demo ride also and it was too low. This seat makes a considerable difference and you have the option to have the seat you want no extra charge.
