Well Kelly and I set out today to find a route South out of Albuquerque. We FAILED. It seems today was a day for locked gates.
Here we are gassing up:
Here is some "beautiful" New Mexico...
Just as the road seemed to be getting interesting...
it got REAL interesting and ended..
We DID find the end of the fence... but I didn't see a way through.
With our tails between our legs we headed back toward the highway past the prison.
We stopped for lunch by the route 66 casino for a Luna Burger and to come up with a new plan. The new plan was to go north through the Puerco and see if we could get to 528. We FAILED again.
I did meet this guy along the way.
and got to see some actual beautiful New Mexico.
Required PEE shot
All in all we layed down 132 miles today.

Sorry about the locked gates, still looks like a good ride though.
Burque Magoo and I ran into Mr. King (from the no trepassing sign) not too long ago on the Puerco, we hadn't even gone through a gate and he was still mad (and toting a .243). He clamed down a lot and let us ride through, but he was still l ooking for another pack of riders that had entered another way. Hope we don't lose access to the Puerco all together.

How cool is it that you can do 133 miles of trail riding and never loose site of the city?
Once the wind let down it was a prtty good go of it- with the exception of all of the fence and closed gates ( and trash dumped on the sides of the road).
I guess will will just have to keep trying, huh Matt?

That area south and west of the prison is a weird area, lots of shootin going on out there, I rode around a hill out there and came face to face with some hoodies shootin automatics. There's no tellin what you'll find out that way. I prefer to slab it south a little past Belin then cut across the dez over to Madelina. From there then head north alongside the Acoma pueblo dumping you out on I-40 about 10 mi west of Rt66 casino. It's about 60% dirt
Interesting ride though.
